What's new

MCIE to close!

Keep it up and your poetic justice will come too.

Wishful thinking won't keep TUL part of AA the TWU won't keep TUL part of AA, it all depends on what AA wants to do.Dont't forget that the TWU represents AMR services. You or I have no control over any decision that AA does. Don't kid yourself AA can spinTUL off like AA did with SABRE. I will welcome the TUL guys to ORD. They are real good guys and excellent mechs.

At UAL the mechs at IND overhaul, did a slow down when they were unhappy with management, IND was the first maint base that UAL closed when they went to bankruptcy.

I must end this post as it is sunday and I have to go to work now. As I have said in the past, I don't want to give anything up in the contract to preserve the TUL life style.

My bet is AFW goes first, then maybe TUL

But my point was you will get poetic justice from forces outside AA/TWU with your attitude and opinions. What goes around comes around.

<_< -------- Ironic, another closing, and end of era!: http://www.rbogash.com/Plant%202/Plant2.html

Got to admit hose Connies were beautiful. Never did work on one though.
<_< ----- I didn't either. I hired on with TWA in 1968, one year after TWA grounded their last Connie. But! Alas! I can volunteer and work on the one we have here at KCI! I just might do that!-------- That would be a change! Work on an Aircraft, "just for the fun of it!" 😀

Very sad day for ex-TWA'ers and many folks in Kansas City.

Looking forward to welcoming some new guys in Dallas. Glad some were able to keep their jobs by making the move. Best of luck to the rest.

Very sad that the informer and I have turned this thread into bickering and a threat. I wish the MCI guys well and thanks to the MCI Transplant for the cool link.

The next post from EITHER poster which perpetuates the above mentioned bickering gets EACH of them a time out.

That said, turning this thread into a labor related discussion BEYOND the scope of how the closing affects workers is completely out of line.

Keep THAT up and this will be closed.

It's sad to see MCIE closed, but even sadder to see Plant 2 closing. It would have made a great annex to the Museum of Flight. Instead, it's being torn down to resolve environmental issues... http://blog.seattlepi.com/aerospace/archives/204669.asp

At least the facility @ MCI will remain, and there's some chance that a MRO might move in, but with other move-in-ready facilities like DLH on the market, it will be a tough sell, especially with whatever is left behind in the ground as an issue...

And maybe that MRO will be smart enough to hire all those TWAers with all their experience and entry level wages and no union. Then we can truly see if it is better without a union.

<_< ------ Hopeless! The talent that is left behind have either retired, or gone on to better things. You won't have to worry your pretty little head about them any more!

Man, oh Man MCI! Must you always be so defensive? My point was two fold....Employing retired TWAers with ALL their experience who may not have wanted to retire but chose it as not to have to leave their home.
The second point intended was for those who believe not having a union is the way to go. What do you think the MRO would pay and what do you thing a retired experienced mechanic would allow himself to be had for.

Next time I post, I'll add a diclosure to ensure you than I am not insulting former TWAers..

Man, Oh Man!

<_< ------- Sorry Hopeful,------ Guess I did jump too soon! Sign of the times!

And the pay isn't much worse either! 😀 😀

<_< -------- Pay wouldn't be much worse, but the satisfaction level, "priceless!"------- Besides I like the idea of working on an Aircraft with TWA still painted on the side of it! 😉 Unlike the Canadian Connie, this one is still "Airworthy". One of the few, if not the only one, that is!
