I found this part of the New York Times article to be pretty interesting:

For MSNBC, this is unwelcome news during a heated election. Last year, after its scandal involving Brian Williams, Mr. Lack, the former head of NBC News, was brought back to run the news division, and one of his chief missions was to fix the ailing MSNBC, which significantly trails Fox News and CNN in viewership. In the last few months, Mr. Lack has steered MSNBC away from its liberal identity and moved it toward harder news in the daytime hours. Since January, the network has had round-the-clock election coverage (including the reintroduction of Mr. Williams as co-anchor on primary nights), and notched strong ratings gains year-over-year in the mornings and afternoon.

My liberal friends swear up and down that there is no such thing as "liberal bias" in the mainstream media, and my conservative friends swear up and down that there is, and they latched onto this quote this morning as evidence of that bias.

MSNBC executives said that they were surprised by Harris-Perry’s blast on Friday and that it may have stemmed from her perception — incorrect at the time, but now a reality — that her weekend program was about to be canceled. “She’s a brilliant, intelligent but challenging and unpredictable personality,” one executive said. “There was no plan to cancel her.”

He added, “It’s highly unlikely she will continue” at MSNBC. Her email “is destructive to our relationship.”

Even though, I like MSNBC--particularly, the Chris Matthews show--Ms. Harris-Perry has always been hard to listen to for a whole hour.  I wish her well in her future endeavors.
