An airplane soared through the sharp North Dakota air Saturday afternoon before landing and rolling end over end through the snow.

No one was on board, and the pilot was safe on the ground, operating the plane with a remote control.

Remote control airplanes are a passion for members of the Bismarck Aircraft Modelers, who hosted Chilly Flyin' Saturday at Hogue Island Park.

Bruce Pennington, of Bismarck, and his brothers, Paul and Mark, founded the organization, which is beginning its third year.
