Since having more problems with BULLDOGS. Delta decides to just ban them completely.

DL - and I believe other airlines - ban pug nosed dogs as well.
.
It seems to me to be more intelligent to put limits around the animals that DL carries than to continue to have problems. As a pet owner, I think you would rather find another choice than run the risk of losing your pet on an airline that recognizes that for whatever reason their track record w/ certain breeds isn't as good as they want.

As someone who almost lost a bullie on DAL, I learned a very important lesson. I will NEVER ship a dog again. Mine would have been fine if the STL agent had let me pick up the dog when she arrived. She held her in a HOT bag room for 5 hours until my daughter's late flight arrived. (my name and phone number were on the paperwork) Over the course of treatment, it has cost me around $6000. (DAL reimbursed $1500 even though receipts were presented for the initial $3500) She will never be the same because her breathing has been compromised. Sad but inevitable. I wonder what the military personnel returning from Europe will do with their furry family members?

very sad to hear that any living thing should suffer and I do hope you can do all possible to make his/her life as productive and enjoyable for both of you as possible.
.
I don't have any doubt that there are clearly stupid things being done- and your story certainly sounds like even reasonable common sense wasn't used.
.
that said, DL apparently believes (perhaps because it has a heavier southern component to its route system than any other airline) that they don't want to subject animals that can't handle the heat to potential problems... there is evidence outside of DL that certain breeds of dogs are not as good at adapting to heat and DL has chosen to not accept those breeds.
.
stupidity or just a function of certain breeds, hopefully no animal will be subject to what your dog experienced.

Does this mean that the University of Georgia teams are going to have to find another carrier?

good question... I'll go out on a limb and say that UGA (the mascot bulldog) is free to roam the plane in the passenger cabin on UGa charters...but I could be wrong.
