It was announced today that GSO will have no mainline flights on the December schedule.

what a shame! so much for the IAM helping those folks on the ramp and now the company dont want to send in the jets to a city that was profitable.

Yea, what the Heck...May as well let DL have it all in GSO.
Sad to think what GSO once was in the PI days. I'm sure the Passengers will still fly US, since most prefer a smaller cramped RJ that will leave some of thier baggage behind over an MD-88 or a 737....

I can see GSO-PHL,CLT,PIT,DCA,LGA,BOS going to RJS but what about to PHX and LAS. Arent we going to start service there?

Out of GSO? I truly doubt it.

This confirms a fear I have had for a long time. GSO for years enjoyed service at a level that would not have existed had in not been so close to the HQ of PI. With each passing year, those ties grew more distant. Now that the move is about to take place to Tempe I was afraid that some one was going to pull the plug. This is where I have spent over twenty years flying out of. This is going to be like losing a very close friend.

One of my greatest concerns is for the employees of this station who have always been the best. Even with the EO, there are still several 20 year plus employees here. My guess is they now have to go express with express wages.

Second, the ladies in the Club were very good friends and always willing to help. And not just the frequent members. I've watched for years how they made newbies feel right at home. My guess while it lasts, is that this is the only station that will be all express to have a club.

Third, they have handed this market to DL on a platter. DL didn't even have to make an effort. They simply just handed to them. One of these days the Barbie jets will come back to bite all who have used them.

I am truly sorry to read of this and wish the best to all my friends who work there.

IM not sure about the clubs future, half the club members now fly Delta and use it because it’s located near the Delta gates. Next month Delta will move to their brand new concourse on the other side of the airport.

I wish someone other than Delta would recognize this market. With the new FedEx hub coming, it will be another MEM or IND size market. The employees are still hoping for some LAS or PHX service or some of the new CRJ-900’s the mainline pilots have negotiated to fly. As long as there are 2 mainline flights the staff will remain the same….. No pink slips yet ..... fingers crossed in GSO???

Maybe its just a seasonal adjustment. i just checked for 21jun06. 3 737-300's daily, GSO-CLT.

It hasn't been loaded yet ..... a friend of mine works there and said the mgr told them today so they wouldn't read it in the newspaper first. 🙁 They are hoping it's temp. and that mainline service will return.

So very sad.....another one of the many stations that have been expressed. With the mainline fleet count headed from 280 to 220, I am afraid you are going to see a lot more of this. Stations like MSP, DTW, GSO, ILM, SAV, CHS, ALB, ROC, BUF, SYR, etc could all see only 1-2 mainline flights a day.

Folks..we are in the midst of a major merge...I can easily see PHX and or LAS mainline service for MSP,DTW and BUF.

That is after full integration. For right now the big drive is to reduce head count on the US side so that when we integrate fully, there will be minimal losses on the AWA side.....which is cheaper labor because there are less topped out employees. In the interim, US stations will continue to see a change in service and possibly status (mianline to mainline -express) I wonder what the provision will be in the contract for former Mainline stations that go Mainline Express and then after the merger will be back to mainline?

I can see it now-- NEW RJ SERVICE TO LAS and PHX!!!!
Folks, we have to leave 35 bags behind and at least 15 pax behind ALL DUE TO WEIGHT AND BALANCE and the DRY HEAT in the WEST!!!! 😉 🙄 😀

After 9/11 to save a buck when the loads droped off, some agents were laid off for 8 weeks, while the station worked short. In keeping with the CWA contract (one week of full pay for each year of service for those furloughed) they received full pay the entire 8 weeks. After a 2 month paid vacation they were recalled..... If they’re planning to run mainline CRJ-190's in later, it would be crazy to furlough and then have to recall.
