Norwegian completes first two commercial 737MAX transatlantic flights

Not exactly popular destinations. Fares have to be attractive to fill the seats on these routes. These are not connecting city pairs and stuck on a narrow body over the pond must suck unless your sleeping the whole time. If they expand to more popular destinations in the states then the legacy carriers are in for more competition.

I think you might be surprised at how many people will go for the cheap fare even though travel terminates in East Nowhere. There's always a Greyhound bus or an Amtrak train near to the first two destinations in the U.S.

Around here people are always complaining about the terrible trip they had to endure on Spirit. Yet, when it comes time to decide how to get to South Florida from Dallas, Spirit to FLL wins over AA to MIA or FLL often enough that Spirit is still in business. Go figure.

The city pairs may not be popular but fares starting at $99 one-way from SWF to Belfast in September (includes 1 checked bag) sounds pretty attractive to backpackers.
