Not Guilty in Florida

Not sure if you have serve on a jury or not but I have been on two. Both were criminal trials. It was not anything that I expected.

Everyone on the jury took the case very seriously. Both trials. There were a few members on the jury who had personal bias but they seemed not to let it interfere with what they were charged with.

One was a DUI (third strike which we were not told till after ward) and the other was an insurance company not wanting to pay a claim.

We all wanted to convict tbe DUI. We k ew he was guilty but the cop lied and cast reasonable doubt on tbe proof offered so we kicked him.

The insurance company case. We wanted to nail them to the wall. I think we ended up holding the insurance co 70% and the hotel 30% guilty.

The entire process restored a oitnof faith in tbe jury system. I still believe the legal system is broken but not beyond repair.

There was reasonable doubt. That is all the defense needed to do.

What I find of interest is that she was convicted of lying to the police.

Why were they called out to the house? Her daughter was missing.

When asked about the whereabouts, she lied. So, she's convicted. Where was the daughter, dead in a swamp. She's not convicted of that?????

There are guilty people on the streets that should be in prison. There are innocent folks in prison that should be on the street. This is one verdict I find hard to swallow but there is karma and what come's around goes around. OJ should have been sitting a jail in California, instead he's sitting in a jail in Nevada.

Momma Anthony clearly lied in trial, wouldn't it be funny that the person who overlooked and cleaned up Casey's actions all of these years is prosecuted and convicted of perjury?

The sentencing guidelines gives a year for each violation. She's been in jail for that amount of time, so she'll probably walk out the door on Thursday. Where does she go? To her parents house where all of the "molestations" have taken place? To her brother's house so he can walk in her bedroom at night? Her lawyer had to point the finger at someone else and daddy sure was looked at, but will he allow her back in his house? If he did, then I would have to believe that he was part of the defense and gave his ok to blame him to get her off the hook. If she does move back in then they all deserve each other.

I liked the defense lawyer slamming of the media. That was priceless.

From RCP:

"Well, I hope that this is a lesson to those of you who have indulged in media assassination for three years. Bias, prejudice and incompetent talking heads saying what would be and how to be. I'm disgusted by some of the lawyers that have done this, and I can tell you that my colleagues from coast to coast and border to border have condemned this whole process of lawyers getting on television and talking about cases that they don't know a damn thing about. And don't have the experience to back up their words or the law to do it. Now you learned a lesson, and we appreciate the jury and those of you that have been objective and professional. We like it. Others, we're going to be talking to again. Thank you very much," Cheney Mason, one of Casey Anthony's defense attorneys said at a press conference after the verdict was announced.

Paris,

I think you are missing the core principle of our legal system. In the US system.you are always innocent. The burden is on the prosecution to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

I was pretty certain that the guy on trial for the DUI was guilty. The prosecution could not prove it to our satisfaction. Therefore we aquited.

Anthony was not found innocent. She was found not guilty. I belive it is a very important distinction.

That's debatable......there were two options on every charge directed by the judge, and they were guilty or not guilty.

I wasn't aware in our system there was an innocent verdict. I always thought you were found guilty or not guilty......did I miss something?

This trial and verdict leaves much to speculation much like the OJ fiasco. The part I enjoyed was the admonishment of the media by the defense lawyers. It was well directed.

Guilty or Not Guilty......ask a defense attorney about that. They do not care of your problem, they only look to get you off, to provide the reasonable doubt and that's the way it works under the Constitution in these United States, like it or not.

The state of Nevada should release OJ so he can continue to hunt down his wife's killer, on every golf course in the continental US.

She did it, but like you said, that's our system. Sometimes you get lucky and get a bunch of schmoes on the jury. Man, can you imagine having Dapose as your jury foreman, eerrr, forewoman?

I think you misunderstood what I wrote.

You are presumed innocent. There is no innocent verdict and never meant to imply that there was. The burden in on the prosecution to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt That you are guilty.

I suspect even she would put her bias aside. On the DUI case I was on we had a born again (according to her). She started out saying drinking was wrong. My self and several other told her that it did not matter if she Nd her religious beliefs felt it as wrong. The only thing we could use as our guide was the law. After a bit she understood and voted with the rest of US to acquit.

I am hopeful that here is something about a jury that makes people take their obligation seriously. You are holding someone life in your hands.

Also for those blaming the jury. Keep in mind that you have heard quite bit that was not said in the court room. They only germ to hear What the judge says they can. More than likell they wanted to convict but could not given the evidence they were provided.

State of Nevada has him for stupidity in burglary or something close to that.

You can prove she did it?

Im thinking they just did you libtards a favor. If she would have been found guilty then received the death sentence, you bleeding heart libtards would have been howling for her unjustice and release!

Case in point: Obama tries to stop execution in Texas of Mexican killer

I watched more of this trial than I want to admit. There was about 16 tons of smoke and precious little fire. Good circumstantial case by the prosecution. Unfortunately the defense poked enough holes in it to drive a Mack Truck through just created to much doubt in the Jury's mind.

This case has little to do with anything political.

Yeah I know, but if memory serves me, you chided me recently as "everything's political sweetie" and I was just responding to (deleted) comment about Bushes election and red states. Remember what I told you about liberals constantly delegitimizing Bush 2000 election and yet the same crying foul when some on the right delegitimizing Obama and his birth certificate funny business?

Anyway I digress...

Realistically Casey Anthony epitomizes the typical young Obama voter yet its funny to see the left wing blogosphere go absolutely ape sh!t over it. Void of any morals and decision making skills, just wants to have fun, free wheeling, personal responsibility be damned, etc! If she had aborted her daughter she would be lauded courageous and a hero. But no she post pregnancy aborted (who knows maybe will surface as a new benefit under Obamacare?) her baby and the lefties are just twisting in the wind.

The funniest (yet sad) is some of the left actually blame republicans for Caley's death as they somehow caused Casey not to seek an abortion.

She eventually will probably wish she was incarcerated or put down. Generally people who commit acts like these and are void of proper decision making skills have a rough life. OJ eventually got put away and millions yanked from him or denied. She will always have a unshakable shadow behind her and will probably go down the same route the Long Island Lolita has. Porn.
