The point was not the government knowing anything about you.

The point was how are they going to insure patient privacy once they start collecting patient records. If they cant secure top seceret documents from being posted via wikileaks, how can we expect them to protect the contents of our medical records?

Nothing can be 100% secured these days. I see this as more for my benefit. Should I become incapacitated by an accident lets say, I would like to think my records are accessible by what ever medical professional is treating me so that they know what my previous treatment has been, allergies, or anything else that might affect my treatment. I am not to up to date on software security but I would think there are enough safe guards to prevent tampering (my main concern). There will always be a risk for break ins regardless of what security measures are taken. I wonder if there will be an opt out clause for those who think the risk is too great. I agree with dog, if Uncle Sam wants the info, they will get it. Our financial lives are all electronic and percentage wise, there has not been all that much damage caused. We live in an electronic age. There are going to be issues. I am sure there were far fewer horse accidents than car accidents but I do not hear any one clamoring to go back to horse and buggy. At least not any more.

You mean you feel 100% comfortable trusting an institution (gov) with your personal information, in light of recent wikileaks scandal and TSA image dumps? A guy can data dump a boat load of information whilst lip syncing to Lady Gaga, embarrass the US and put countless lives in danger. And yet you are okie dokie trusting them with you personal info? Especially if this nightmare that is obamacare comes to fruition, you will have no choice?

Your reading comprehension really sucks. Did you read the first sentence? The one where it said that nothing is 100% secure.

No I do not neccesarily trust them but they are as good as any one else. I amj more concerned about the doctor treating me having full access to my.medical history i.case of an emergency.

If i have a bank that revealed my personal info, I can change banks. If I have a credit card that revealed my info I have recourse.

You have no recourse with the gov.

Like I have already said. I am more concerned that my doctor have all my medical info than I am about my info being leaked.
