Obama's Made New Friends !

Said Ali al-Shihri, returned to his home in Saudi Arabia after his release from Guantanamo about a year ago and from there went to Yemen. The Internet statement, which could not immediately be verified, said al-Shihri was the group's second-in-command in Yemen and his prisoner number at Guantanamo was 372.

"He managed to leave the land of the two shrines (Saudi Arabia) and join his brothers in al-Qaida," the statement said.

Documents released by the U.S. Defense Department show that al-Shihri was released from the facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in November 2007 and transferred to his homeland.

Al-Shihri was released by Bush to his Saudi friends. They are the ones who dropped the ball. 🙄

Perhaps had Bush brought them before a court and provided proof of their guilt they could have been put in jail like some of the perpetrators of the bombing of the towers. Perhaps had Bush not circumvented US law and dragged other countries down his path we would not be in the situation we are in. Perhaps had Bush actually upheld the oath of office and the principles of this nation we might be better off than we are now.

You can spout all your little 'kumbya' and "cut & run" BS all you want but it will not alter the fact that most in this country are fed up with the arrogance and utter disregard for reality that W and his supporters represent.

So you think in a battlezone you can send out crime scene investigators to gather proof? Try laying off the tube will ya. It doesn't reflect reality.

Err.............yeah, but Obama's getting ready to release them all !

While Obama cleary indicated his intent on closing Gitmo (through an executive order), he has not indicated what exaclty will happen to the 250 detainees at Gitmo. I can assure you that while some will likely be released (as some were under Bush) many will be tried. In fact, many judges have ordered the review of the old process, indicating that the legal process for these prisoners will be changed, but not completely done away with.

What about testimony, witnesses, and stuff like that? The US was able to convict Nazis after WWII.

Sounds like a little Post Traumatic Election Syndrome if you ask me.......

I suggest you just wait a while under your new God and see actually what reality really is.

Well, your Messiah is going to pull the cork.....give Bush credit for keeping most of them caged up.

Its those pesky touchy feely Lib's who are the problem here.

Those poor poor prisoners.....

Yes it was an international tribunal but the US was pulling the strings. Same concept could be applied. Get an international court and have it dealt with on a international level. After all, the terrorist are affecting everyone right?

Dell, it has nothing to do with compassion for the prisoners in Gitmo. It has to do with circumventing US law and becoming the enemy who we are fighting. I agree with Obama when he stated that the United States does not have "to continue with a false choice between our safety and our ideals." The US is far better than that.

If you think Nazi party and islamic-jihad terrorists are one of the same then your dead wrong. You should really stop relying on CNN to get your factual data. Try the library for a start.

What does that have to do with holding people with out charging them, sending them to secret CIA prisons to be tortured? Had Bush not circumvented the USC most of this could have been prevented.

Insofar as the law is concerned, a POW is a POW. I do not believe the law differentiates between the two. Let me know if you find something that states other wise. They may not have been wearing a standard uniform but they were taken in combat since according to W we were at war.
