Sorry, but what he said was true. We old US Airways employee would had been history and the AWA employees would had been right behind us. Must you concerned "FFOCUS" people always find a complaint in something? Jobs WERE saved. That IS the jest of the article. Had he bragged about how wonderful our service was, then I could and would agree with your post.
What I am sick about is not about the jobs. It's that US is still divided. US pilots and FA's are still flying thier own perspective aircraft and are still have seperate contracts. To me that is not a success.
It's your management team who I have a problem with. I don't believe anything that comes out of their mouths.
As far as both airlines being toast, Doug Parker is dead bang correct. On that there can be no debate.
What rankles many of us is he trots this old warhorse out as the fundamentals of his airline crumble under the weight of bad management.
Furthermore Doug makes no mention of his open contempt for Frequent Flyers. He's been quoted on this many times.
The reason he is out in front of the media is to spin bad Q3 numbers in the most favorable light possible and this modified "Be glad you have a job" article is the opening shot at Organized labor as contracts become amendable and addressing the pilot issues with vague comparisons
Doug and the ever glib Kirby can sling the bull excrement with the very best. I just hope no one stepped on this putrid bag of feces of Press Release masquerading as news
Yeah, but basically, Doug and Kirby’s ideas and concepts suck.<SNIP> I don't understand all the attacks on "Doug and the ever glib Kirby". To quote you from another post.
"Great minds discuss idea and concepts
TIt's really amusing how convenient it is for people to blame management for the pilot seniority issue.
When the merger took place, ALPA clearly told management to not get involved in the seniority list as it was a pilot and union issue, so they didn't. Now that it's a mess, it's management's fault. Give me a break.
As for Delta and Northwest pilots, they too will leave the seniority issue up to arbitration so don't say that issue is resolved because it isn't.
As for frequent flyers, if business travel is such a huge inconvenience in your life then find another job. Afterall, isn't that what you say about disgruntled airline employees.
And if you think that you are owed a free first-class seat or a free ticket for the sacrafice of being away from your family, then get your boss to buy you one. Or how about this, take a pay cut to increase your travel budget and buy your own upgrades.
As employees, we should be grateful for your business but if I had to choose between my job or giving away seats, I choose my job. I'm sure you would feel the same in your own business.
We are in the business of selling seats on an airplane. As a customer, you are owed a safe, clean environment while getting from point A to point B; as close to on-time as possible and with your bags. And through it all, hopefully you are treated in a courteous and respectful way. In other words -- good, realiable service. That is what Doug Parker believes in and we as a company have been trying to improve and be the best at.
Yes, if we were gushing in money, I'm sure our mangement would love to give our best customers whatever they want, but we are not. Southwest has the most money of all airlines and still does not offer first-class seats, assigned seats, lounges, service to smaller markets, meals or international destinations.
I know what you are going to say: but at least they offer good reliable service. Thank you, read above.
Geez I didn't know "Glib" was bad!
Would you be so kind as to serve jcw his order of Kool-Aide and don't forget to charge him two bucks.
Nice to be accused of drinking the kool-aide. It must be the same bashing kool-aide you drink. If you believe your own posts - "Small minds discuss People" you would not accuse me of drinking kool-aide and not be trashing mgmt or the union. If Doug and Kirby don't like FF's then don't fly US. Fly someone else. This way you hit US where it hurts - revenue.
You should follow your own advice and not discuss people.
