I'm a aircraft mechanic for AA, and would like to know if the pilots, F/A, and mechs still get a defined pension from COL? We all still get that from AA. This is a link to our negotiation from AA's point of view. Thank You

CO pilots' pensions are frozen; everyone else at CO still participates in a Defined Benefit pension same as at AA. CO is the only other airline (besides AA) where FAs, Mechanics and agents still accrue DB pension benefits.

Don't know what will happen when the UA-CO merger is complete, since UA terminated all of their DB pensions in their bankruptcy.

They get the DB, without losing the first year, and a 401K match, and profit sharing.

I believe the IBT is trying to get a union run DB over at UAL.

Like both replies said. CAL does have a defined benefit plan for the mechanics. The ibt tried to have it replaced with its own multi-employer plan, but got shot down by the membership. They are now attempting to get their hands on UAL's mechanics money now.
After doing a lot of research, I would recommend a defined contribution. The company can never threaten to take it away and all fears of it going if the company goes bankrupt or under is gone. Once it goes into your account, it's YOURS. If you quit, you take it with you.
