The company and their union have reached a T/A for the mechanics. It is disgraceful at best. $.70 raise after 8 years of stagnation with 5 of those years under concessions. It is clear both the actions of the AA mechanics and what is happening at CAL, these industrial unions do not understand or care to understand the aircraft maintenance technician or our profession. They are paid and bought for by the airlines.
www.cal-ualmechanics.com has a link to the T/A for anybody that would like to view it and have a chuckle.

The actions of the AA mechanics? They voted down their sub standard TA. The ball is your court now, to vote down this POS TA.

We plan to. I know my station is close to 100% no. Mechanics at CAL feel not only let down, but disrespected by this slap in the face.

EWR I'm guessing?

Glad to hear it. I've collected some data that may be of use such as where our (AA) wages need to be when inflation is factored in etc ($46/hr). If I can be of any assistance in getting your TA turned down let me know. PM me so I can send you the stuff, its in excell.

What do you guys pay for Medical? We've been told you pay a lot more than us, I pay around $3000 a year for the coverage not including Co-pays, deductables and other out of pocket, at least $4500 comes out of my check when the Healthcare reimbusement account is added in.

AA rejected the TA 2 to 1, Local 562 which covers the Northeast and SJU rejected it by around 95%. See if you can top us!

We pay about the same. I have a family plan and pay about $350/month for my coverage. Single people obviously pay less.
Thanks for the helping hand, and we will ask for the help when and if needed. We need to start working together at all airlines and stop this degradation of our profession.

Whats the coverage like? Deductables, out of pocket, vision, prescriptions etc?

Deductibles are for my plan. We have a a la cart type system that you can pick and choose. My deductible is $15 regular visit, $50 for specialist. 0 out of pocket, 100% covered after deductible. No vision and no dental. They cost extra and are not worth it for my situation now. My prescription plan is included in my choice of medical options and it's $15 brand name, $5 generic. And $125 emergency room visit, $250 if admitted.
There are other options that are less $$$, but thats when you start going into the 80/20 and all that stuff. For me it wasnt that much less a month to go for it. I would rather pay a little more a month and know if I had to have a million dollar surgery, I'm not in the books for 20% of it. Basically the cheapest plan you can pick for a family is still over $300/month.

Is there a max out of pocket on the 80/20 plan? I think ours is $4k (for what they feel like covering that is).

Back in 1998 my wife had gestational diabetes, so she had to check her blood sugar several times a day, the tester was over $200, they would not pay for it. At the time emergeny room visits were fully covered. I told the lady that I could not afford to pay for the tester and that my only other option was to take her to the emeregeny room several times a day, every day to have her blood sugar checked, so they could either pay for the tester or pay the emergency room visits. 10 minutes later I got a call back, they decided to pay for it, I didnt even have to make the copay.

The most fustrating thing about our benifits is every payment seems to be a battle, in the end they do usually pay but I think they bank on most people not wanting to go through the hassle and just pay it themselves. You have to be a prick.

That's when they're going to be counted.
I guess we should keep our fingers crossed that they reject it like us AA mechs did. They would be settling for around $10/hr less in real terms than they should be earning once inflation is calculated in. With the ATA predicting record profits for the third qtr they would feel kind of dumb if they settled for a continuation of concessions then CAL posted record profits.

They have the same union and perform the same work with even greater responsibility than IBT represented mechanics at UPS but make a fraction of the money.

Well I hope it doesn't pass too, but I've got this weird feeling that this POS will probably pass. I can't speak for the other stations, but I think just like the last couple of times EWR is going to be the only majority NO vote station. Oh never mind the record profits the ATA is predicting, I remember reading an article a couple of weeks ago (sorry I don't remember which source right now) the combined United Continental has about $9 billion in unrestricted cash between the two of them (Continental is somewhere between $4 and $5 billion), once you factor in ATA estimates for later it will be more than that. So is Bob is there any updates with AA since that T/A was voted down?
