If the Pilots won this grievance, then who was doing the maintenance on these aircraft? Do we have any scope language or not?

AMR Ordered to Pay Pilot Union
Friday April 16, 12:18 pm ET

DALLAS (Reuters) - An arbitrator has ruled that American Airlines must pay the union that represents its pilots $23.2 million after the airline violated contract terms through improperly using a subcontractor, the airline and the union said on Friday.

American, a division of AMR Corp. (NYSE:AMR - News) cannot appeal the decision made on Thursday by arbitrator Stephen Goldberg, the Allied Pilots Association said.

The dispute concerned the use of commuter carriers affiliated with American Airlines after a round of pilot furloughs at American in October 2001.

The pilots' union contended that AMR improperly booked flights with an affiliated commuter airline. In the period after the furloughs of American pilots, AMR is supposed to keep the number of passengers it flies on its affiliated commuter carriers within pre-furlough levels, the union said.

AMR said in a statement it thought it was operating within the terms of the contract.

"While we do not agree that a monetary award is warranted, we look forward to continuing the positive steps we have taken to improve our relationship with the APA," the company said in a statement.

2007, where is your proof that there are not sufficient cards for an election?

Why do you fear an election between the twu and AMFA? If the twu is the better union would they not win an election?

So thats $50 million they got back already.

They had the $25 million dollar fine forgiven with the concessions, plus this win will result in more pilots getting their jobs back. It wont help us because we dont have a scope clause like the pilots.

The pilots took a bigger hit with the concessions up front, with layoffs making up more of their share of concessions, but they are already on their way back, they just got a raise that is bigger than what we will see this entire contract and now they are getting their members back. In the meantime we are losing more and more jobs, we are approaching the layoff figure they gave to meet the $310 million for maintenance with zero cuts in pay and benifits.

So as the total concessions for the pilots decrease, ours continues to increase. With all the jobs lost, plus the cuts the company is probably realizing around double the savings. So while we as a class and craft were told that we were giving $310 million, we are probably closer to $620 million.

During the 2001 contract we were urging rejection of the contract because of our weak scope clause. Luby insisted that we did not need it.

Oh yea, but the TWU still gets their $3 million from the company and the International officers still get their double pensions.

Word from TULE is that EMB support equipment is already flowing back into the TUL docks.

Could it be that an earlier Arbitration for the TWU regarding the heavy MX for the turbine equipped AE is going back to TUL.?

Could it be that a TWU-ATD decision allowing TULE to displace AFW-DFW AMTs has been challenged in Federal Court?

Could it be that the TULE AA AMTs' furloughed to AFW and DFW will be recalled given the EMB and 737 work transferred into the station?

Could it be that AA and the TWU are holding off the recalls untill the AMFA vote is declared?

Could it be that the recalls to AFW/DFW will be threatened with layoffs if AMFA WINS?

These are all questions that need to be asked. We need to ask these questions.

Would the Company and the TWU withhold recall for guys in AFW, DFW, MIA and LAX just to stop AMFA?

Let us pray...
Let us pray that for once the TWU lackeys can come up with a coherent and relevant answer to a simple question...Let us pray that one of them can put down the jug, wipe the chew drippings off his chin and explain what..."It is understood that nothing in this article requires the maintenance of the present volume of work"...means...For all these things we pray...
