PIT to MDT Luxury Service?

Quoting the article here: "We're taking the best of two modes; the speed east of Harrisburg on the train, and the speed west of Harrisburg on the bus."

Unless Amtrak is suddenly running Acela from MDT, or the TGV has come to America, I'm not thinking "speed" on the train.
Ditto for the bus, unless Mercedes and these bus people have figured out how to bypass the speed limit on the PA turnpike.

FTA: "Having been at the receiving end of what air service has proven to be in the last several years, there has to be a better way to do things," Henry Posner III, chairman of the Railroad Development Corp. tells the Post-Gazette.

Could Mr. Posner be looking for ways to funnel some business to Amtrak? A quick look at the RDC’s position papers seems to indicate they are for less regulation in the rail industry.

And the potholes!

It's been a while since I've had the pleasure, but I seem to recall the pike being a kidney bruiser and denture rattler sort of experience. Hmm. Sort of like a DHT or an SH3 back in the day. Now THOSE were fun rides.

Amtrak finished upgrading the Keystone Line last fall. Speeds are hovering around 110-115.
