Presidential Approval Ratings

i've been reading alot of dapoes and yours statments ... you guys link to alot of things but don't offer up your own thoughts ... explain what you mean when you say "let''s fix the problems " ... and another thing , it would helpfull when you make these historically wild statments such as "FDR screwed up the economy " to explain what you mean , it's like me saying to you "george washintgon was a communist " without explaniation, my sentance can't be understood ... it seems to ME that really the only way there is any possiblity of fixing the problem is by doing exactly what the president came on national TV tonight to propose .... now i don't think it will work , but if there was ANY chance of any plan working , this would be it ... i enjoy listeing to him speak , it clams me and makes me think there's hope ( really , there's no hope )

and one more thing , don't knock commusim , it's better than anarchy and far better than ending up like zimbabeawee ...
First off...zimbabwe's problems are a result of communism.

Secondly...the government cant fix this problem by socializing everything. Theres no money for it, so the money they are going to pay for it is via cranking up the printing press or try to borrow from people we already owe billions if not trillions in debt.

Margaret Thatcher
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

No theory of government was ever given a fairer test or a more prolonged experiment in a democratic country than democratic socialism received in Britain. Yet it was a miserable failure in every respect. Far from reversing the slow relative decline of Britain vis-à-vis its main industrial competitors, it accelerated it. We fell further behind them, until by 1979 we were widely dismissed as 'the sick man of Europe'...To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukaemia with leeches.

The problem, (via Peter Schiff) is the government is trying to perpetuate a "phony economy" based on borrowing and spending. With the U.S. consumer tapped out, the government is "now taking on the mantle" of consumer of last resort, he continues, predicting the bond bubble will soon burst - if it hasn't already - ultimately leading to a collapse of the dollar and an "inflationary depression worse than anything any of us have ever seen."

The pain needs to play it self out and government needs to step aside to enable business/free enterprise to flourish. Government was never created to "create jobs". What Obama wants to do is become the largest single employer with millions of people becoming dependent on programs for their paycheck, expenses, etc. Once this happens there is no turning back. Government has the worst history of governing programs but now they want the masses to become dependent on them for everything.

Government is not going to lessen the pain, they are going to extend it for years to come. This Spendulus Obama is trying to shove down peoples throat is nothing but garbage that the dems have tried for years to squeeze thru the regular appropriations but failed. They see this as perfect opportunity and saddle it all on the taxpayers shoulders for generations to come.

The Democratic Motto, per Rahm Emanuel:
“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.â€￾

Oh..................your talking about the "OUT-DATED" air traffic control system, run by the government !

Just like most things government gets their hands into..........................sorely lacking !

New Obama slogan : " Change you will believe in...................or we'll put the fear of God into you !"

A few years ago, a privatized ATC system might have made sense...but today I think they'd somehow figure out how to get radar screens for NYC tracon in India and pay someone you can't understand $3 an hour to control them. It seems they've done that with everything else.

I am sure Haliburton could do just fine. That little incident with the showers for the soldiers was just an over sight I am sure.

What does that have to do with topic???

Well, it's approx. 11:30 am Tuesday.

At High noon, the senate will begin to vote on the stimulus...And It Will PASS !!

It will pass, because the 2008 version of congressional republicans...CANNOT Stop It !!!

The(congress) will then Move on to the next order of business, then the next and next and next(and so on)

Highly unlikely the (2008)republicans will be UNABLE to stop any of those either.

Come 2010,......it will become even MORE difficult for the republicans.

It appears that some very frustrating times are ahead for the minority party in congress, for some time to come !!!

KC made a comment about the airports/FAA/AC control being privatized. I merely joked that Haliburton has the financial ability to pull it off. Hopefully they would take a bit more care than they did when one of their contractors built the showers that electrocuted and killed some soldiers in Iraq.

You continue to prove yourself a complete fool.

I guess you think the FAA should just stop maintaining this "outdated" equipment that thousands of planes use everyday to navigate, communicate, and line up with the runway in bad weather.

Maybe you should post the last time an aircraft lined up with a runway using the ILS and landed 500 feet left of the runway...

Maybe you listened to the transcript of the conversation with ATC from Flight 1549? Yes, those radios are FAA maintained "outdated" equipment. The maintenance of that equipment is paid for by taxpayers. It is maintained by professionals, many of which are veterans. Sorry to say they are also union. Look here:

The Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS) represents approximately 11,000 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DoD) employees throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. In 1977, PASS was formed to provide exclusive representation for the FAA’s technician bargaining unit. PASS has grown over the decades and now represents five bargaining units within the FAA and DoD. For over 30 years, PASS has been dedicated to supporting and sustaining the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System (NAS) for the flying public.

You have once again proved that you are completely clueless.

Thanks for that.

I am sure you have a better plan. 🙄

I am aware of what lead to Zimbabwe’s down fall … I think a large part of that was poor planning .. Maybe the farm redistribution idea might have worked if the people taking on the farms had actually known how to far or had the equipment … most had neither .. After that failed idea the business sector quickly lost faith In the country and then so on and so forth ..

As for bonds and peter schiff ,, yes he’s right soon our bonds will be Toilet paper … but he’s also wrong when he tells people to invest in other nations or gold .. We go down , everyone else goes down with us …

As far as this pain you talk of … oh it’s going to be painful, like that pain one might feel right before they die .,.. There’s no bouncing back from this …. Ain’t no WAY the market is going to recover once the dollar becomes toilet paper …. Our nation owes TRILLIONS of dollars of debt …you can’t just back out and start over again ….

The job losses will not only continue , they will magnify ….. People lose their jobs , they will lose their homes , their cars etc …. but this will only last for awhile …. After awhile people are going to look around and say to themselves “why am I going to move out of this house ? No one has a job , I’ll never get one , I’m not moving … I’m going to stay right here and if they want me out they will have to kill me “ and then people will stop paying their moratges enmass then it’s game over ….

Then we will have to find a new economy , and I think that’s where some sort of communism or socialism will have to come in … people have to be feed and order must be maintained .

yeah bend over taxpayers let the "porking" began there is so much crap in there that has nothing to do with helping the economy ,and you act like it is something to gloat and be proud of ? what a joke

as far as 2010 and beyond goes you better hope something works or there will be heads rolling in the majority party

Err thats exactly whats happening with the new administration and the so called Stimulus bill. Obamas new deal is his "Saviour based economy".

And thou shalt not mock the messiah.

speaking as one who understrands the economy , i'm impressed with his job performance thus far ....

Economic genius......................Throws bags for USAIR.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz snore

I am aware of what lead to Zimbabwe's down fall

Apparently not.

Government critics blame Zimbabwe's economic problems on the land reform program.

A southern African regional court in Namibia ruled that 78 white Zimbabweans could keep their farms, saying the government's land reallocation policy was racially motivated. The farmers greeted the ruling as a victory but said it was unlikely to be enforced during Zimbabwe's political and economic crisis. President Robert Mugabe's often violent land reform program, which started in 2000, forced many white commercial farmers from prime farming land. Critics have said it helped turn the country from regional breadbasket into a begging bowl, but the government said the program was meant to benefit the country's black majority. Officials have said that the tribunal has no authority in the matter.

In all fairness the ATC ystem in the USA is outdated and is in serious need of upgrades. Do the air traffic controllers and the people who maintain the equipment do an excellent job with the stuff they are given? Yes they do, however that does not change the fact that the FAA has blown billions of dollars over the past twenty plus years with little to show for it.

I agree.

I could go into extreme detail, but suffice it to say that the system works due to the hard work of many honorable government employees. Outdated equipment is not always necessarily bad equipment, as long as it is maintained properly.
