Republicans Top Democrats on Generic Congressional Ballot

For just the second time in more than five years of daily or weekly tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the (Rasmussen) Generic Congressional Ballot.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 41% would vote for their district’s Republican candidate while 38% would choose the Democrat. Thirty-one percent (31%) of conservative Democrats said they would vote for their district’s Republican candidate.

Perhaps you can enlighten me as to why they even do such a poll? Is it for trend analysis? I read your post and got a very confused look on my face.

Why they do it? Have no idea. Its Rasmussen, that what they do I guess. It appears to be a new poll from the text of the article.

Piney, I do have to agree with you here. Polls are extremely overblown, and IMHO, are a waste of time. The only reasonable explanation I could possibly come up with, is, after the record setting poll taking Presidency of Clinton/Gore, polling is a machine!. Pretty sad that Washington(both repubs/dems) have people employed as pollsters, instead of Congressmen/Senators TRULY REPRESENTING their constituency.
