Save the date for Save the Boobs.

At least nine bands will take the stage tonight at the Last Exit Bar & Grill for the "Save the Boobs" benefit for breast cancer research and education.

The show will include performances from local favorites Robin Wilson and Scotty Johnson of the Gin Blossoms, Budweezer, Thousand Yard State, BrotherLush, Pants, Cigar Box, Mark Norman of Ghetto Cowgirl and Corey Gloden of Strange Young Things

Valley residents Jillian Folger, Martie Gutshall and Brenda Hoese, along with Arizona Republic reporter and BrotherLush lead singer Lindsey Collom, created a group called "Pink Pals" to raise the money needed to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-day Walk. The Arizona walk is Nov. 2-4.

The four women will join thousands of others in walking 60 miles over three days to raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Their goal is to raise $8,800.

During the 2006 walk, about 2,200 Arizona participants ages 16-82 raised $5.1 million for the cause.

Wilson, vocalist for the Gin Blossoms, has worked with music fanatic and brother Lance Wilson on many musical benefits in Tempe over the past couple of years.

"Cancer has probably affected a lot of people by this point," Lance said. "This is a fun way for everyone to come together and work towards finding a cure for cancer."

Johnson, guitarist for the Gin Blossoms, said he has a personal connection to the cause, having lost his mother to colon cancer three years ago.

"I'm very proud to be able to participate in the event," Johnson said. "This should be a really special night for everyone, but there's definitely a soft spot in it for me."

There will be a $10 cover charge for admission, which includes one raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are $2 each, or 3 for $5. All proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer 3-day Walk. Raffle prizes will include a Verizon Wireless Strawberry Chocolate phone, a Fascinations gift basket worth $125, massages, an autographed Arizona Cardinals football and an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball.

The Last Exit Bar & Grill is at 1425 W. Southern Ave. in Tempe. The doors open at 7 p.m. Information: http://members.cox.net/pinkpals/ information.htm.
