The MEC has done it again to the APL pilots.

First, they allow the MidAtlantic Chief Pilot to populate the training and checking departments with his hand picked cronies (Never advertising the postions),

Then they throw the 70 seat Captains a lousy $58G a year, and the F/Os a mere $35G.

Of course, everyone should be glad they have a job!

STRENGTH FROM WITHIN! ALPA: THE PILOTS UNION!

I agree you have been screwed black ops. Now quiz me this. After having been screwed by the company, the MEC, the senior guys and all why is it you continue coming back for more? You can make that much money selling cars or insurance. Quit allowing them to screw you and take control of your destiny.

mwereplanes,

It's just hearsay, but I understand that they are running out of furloughed pilots willing to take the f/o job - either going elsewhere or holding out for c/o slot.

hey anything the big pilots do to protect themselves they will. it is very sad because they are paid the big bucks while the rest of us suffer!!!!

Well BlackOps and you thought that once you were a mainline pilot you had the world bu the balls. Well now as an APL you are feeling the wrath that the mainline MEC has been putting the WO pilots for the last milenium. Hope your job at MDA lasts longer then those of us here at the WO's

Black Ops,

The MAA Chief Pilot took part in interviewing potential check airman, but HR guided by CCY made the hiring decisions. If you were ever a Part 121 simulator instructor or check airman and you were a furloughed AAA guy, your name would have been on top of the pile. If you had a CL-65 type you would have looked especially good to MAA. In early 2003 MAA was still looking at the CRJ700. In hindsight they should have taken them.

If you are a furloughed AAA pilot then you have access to the pilots only website. Take a look at the furlough administrator e-mail archives. I believe the very first message you will see is from March 15, 2003. This archived e-mail is The Announcement that MAA was accepting resumes.

I hope you are correct on this. He is able to get away with it because so many are willing to work for scraps he offers and the MEC allowed him to offer. If all the furloughed guys realized there are other ways to make a living than working for peanuts flying airplanes they would be a lot happier.

4lowed,

If you're a furloughed AAA pilot and have been subsequently hired by another ALPA carrier then you are removed from the AAA alpa message board.

Those of us in that situation are not privy to that (or, quite frankly, any) information from the furlough administrator.

furloughedagain,
I have heard this complaint before. I think you can contact Woerthless ALPA national and get reinstated to the ALPA boards. The furlough administrator archives can be reached by going to usairwayspilots.org. Have you tried logging on that way? The archives are not a part of the ALPA boards, but are a part of the pilots website.

I remember the uproar over this a while back. Just reading the posts at the time, it appeared that ALPA wanted to cut off access to the U pilots only portion for all furloughed pilots.

There are still furloughed folks posting on the site. It may be a "in house vs not" thing where if you are working at one of the affiliates you still have access. I see quite a few posts about working conditions, reserve, etc, at the J4J carriers.

Furloughedagain,

The way things are going, you may have made your own "soft landing". Despite what happening at DL now, I suspect they'll be around a while.

Good Luck,

Jim
