I know the reason the company hasnt come out with a big separation package is because of the cash up front problem, but I know of several agents in my station who are trying to start other careers (and are just fed up with the company) who would gladly leave if they could just get flying benefits. Why isnt the company offering any more of these? The company seems to be wanting to get rid of people, but isnt really putting forth any effort to actually get people to leave (other than downsizing or expressing them out the door.) Offer lifetime flying benefits for anyone topped out and see if anyone goes. (I thought they changed the lifetime flying to anyone with 20 years, but we've been told you still have to be 55 to get that and these people arent that old.) Even 1 person who leaves would open up the possibility of someone junior coming back with less benefits to have to pay out. The two people in particular I know of are 84 or higher date and the ones on call to come back in their place would be 93 or later. Big difference in pay and total benefits. Any thoughts or comments?

Hey Tadjr
The company just wants us to leave , they just don't want us to leave with something. It seems like a game to me and and if we leave with someting I bet the company thinks they lost. Your right, if they just offered passes you would see several people bail. And not that cheesey voluntary pass deal where you pay taxes on your passes. With this company you don't get squat unless your 55 no matter how many years you have with the company. It would be nice if they had some formula like years of service and age to equal some kind of leave package. And because they don't you see a lot of people hanging around collecting top of scale because there is no incentive to leave.

<_< gotta tell you im gone in january i would take the sep package in a second i know our union is still talking about it so maybe it will happen for now im taking a vol furlough got 21 years in cust svc im outta here

why dont you just e-mail Dave your suggestion on the flying benefits and see what he thinks..you never know he may just do it

I have put this thought in through the suggestion program, the answer I received was that they would not allow any early outs due to the collective bargaining agreement. The other reason was that the company would not entertain any early outs that would be costly to the the company.
Me I took a voluntary furlough last June, I turn 55 in Aug of next year and planning on putting in for retirement at that time, I had 86 bseniority so I'll travel as a s-4 because I won't have 20 years in. Otherwise I have been very happy with my decision.

Like I said,,medical, flying and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$I'm down the road..
