Sikh religious musicians forced to disembark US plane
26 Nov 2008, 2020 hrs IST

NEW YORK: Three eminent Sikh religious musicians were thrown out of a US Airways flight after the pilot refused to fly with them on board in California, a leading US-based Sikh group alleged on Wednesday.

The three — Gulbag Singh, Davinder Singh and Iqbal Singh — had boarded the plane in Sacramento on November 15 after being cleared by the security.

In a complaint letter to the Airways, 'United Sikhs' protested the incident and warned it of legal action unless prompt amends are made.

The group pointed to the severity of racial profiling and discriminatory treatment and sought an apology and compensation for the three and offered training for US Airways staff.

If procedures were followed, there had to be a lot of USAirways staff involved in getting to that point of removing the passengers.

But, as pilot in command, the captain does have the final authority to do that unilaterally. If he did so, my guess is he will be shortly looking for gainful employment.

I bet the Captain isn't even a dues paying USAPA member, so one less for the company to worry about.

did he even have a reason to kick them off the plane? I didnt see anywhere in the article they posed a threat

EMINENT! OK, I'm sorry, but I find that funny somehow.

I wouldn't put much stock in this as of yet. I'd love to hear how often discrimination complaints are made. I'm betting it's far greater then we know. I have a feeling that this is just one more complaint, probably inaccurate, incomplete, or just false. It may well be accurate in its entirety, though the "entirety" is lacking fromt he article. I think it's just a case of someone thinking they can pull it off, or someone that assumes it was racial when it was for a different, but legitimate, reason. I'd also venture that this case just happened to have a lawyer that saw no damage to himself, or his clients, by making the accusation public.

The article says the 3 men boarded their flight for Salt Lake City in Sacramento. Since when does US Airways fly SMF-SLC??

We are on high alert due to terrorists in India.
On a lighter side--maybe they said they were angry!!!

From what I can gather, that may have been a mainline west crew. Oh, and please , let's not make this into a west versus east thing.

What I'd like to know is what alarmed the pilot about these pax.

Established so that the Mormon lobbyists could have easier access to assure that government can easily monitor what happens in private bedrooms.

LDS:

Simultaneous relationships between one male and 72 virgins females = good.
Monogamous relationship between same-sex couple = bad.
Diddling in another states laws = double plus good.

Determining what happens in a non-Mormon bedroom = priceless.
