What's new

SoCal Fires.

Well I actually KNOW the person that beachboy is referring to and it certainly DID happen. They could NOT get someone out in time for the trip so they pulled him WITHOUT actually talking to them. They sent the message through acars. Whatever...Call BS all you want....see if they answer.
Why is this even an issue? If my HOUSE is burning to the ground with my family in it, why would I be on the phone with scheduling? I would call, and plitely say, " I need to be removed from the trip, immediately." Period. End of discussion. Disastrous events happen.

I will maintain, tho, that I know 2 FA's that were released from a trip in LAX, while on a layover, and they were treated well, and with respect. As it should be.

Ok seriously the person was treated like crap. I don't know if this particular scheduler in systems was just at their wits end but THIS particular situation happened. Considering other got off their trips with no problem is why it makes no sense for scheduling to be going after this person like the STILL are. It's wrong. Especially when it comes to a person with such great work ethics. Basically a switch was made and the person was already home when finally told. Like scheduling don't know what is going on out there. I feel bad for him/her. There's nothing to make up here.

I still fail to see why crew sked had an issue with this if it was a LIFE THREATENING catastrophe. I think there is more to the story: the way he handled it, something.... if not, shame on sked.... but I will say I saw them act with utter professionalism to these two women, and it wasn't even a supervisor. No questions asked.

These must be west schedulers or new easties calling and being all nasty.

I worked in a city for USAirways that was hit by natural disasters frequently and OCC was always very accomodating. I also know of a few CLT and PHL FA's that live in the Keys who were also given considerations to fly home off of their trip to come back to take care of their homes....

the company was very accomodating in every reqard --- we got diff planes during the situations that would perform better and carry a full load, they were always calling us every few hours for updates, and would even check-up on our manager at home. I even remember having them tell us "we can send you a 737-300, pilots were briefed and are comfortable flying it.."

So either this is a completely different company now, or people are just being assholes and not realizing the human side of the job.

If I were a flight attendant and found out a fire was closing in on my home, you bet your ASS I would abandon my trip and go home to take care of it.

Exactly right. And I am telling you, they were quite accommodating. No questions asked. Just did it.

As sad as I am about what has happened to the product and operation at US, I will not become just another complainer and constant whiner. When things happen that are positive, I will share. You can *ALWAYS* count on the same downers to respond, tho. It's like clockwork. Amusing, really! (maybe that's why I post the good stories? )

As Hula said, just look at the avatars....

I got the downer bit babe. Though I'm an optimist I'm also a reallist. This board is for the conversation about various topics about the airline. If you don't like what I post about you certainly are FREE to ignore me. Why don't you? Now back to the fires. I'm glad you have a positive story about two that you know but the person I know wasn't treated with the same respect. Take it however you want. whah, whah, whah.....everything is ok in your airline world Peter Pan. 🙄

Yawn. Show me one of your posts where you are optimistic. You spew nothing but misery on here; I can only imagine flying with you (although you know for a fact that I am "lackluster" and an "airhag". Why would I ignore, we laugh at you CONSTANTLY!! )

Reallist. You mean realist? Wow, profound.

Carry on.

Now, thoughts are with all of those in SOCA dealing with this disaster. What a nightmare.

Just wondering why they "must" be west schedulers. Just another example of why we will never be a cohesive unit. Could it have have been just a PERSON with issues? . My prayers are with all who are affected by this disaster or any other personal hardship they've had to endure. Mama

YAWN? Isn't THAT the truth. Shine some light on an issue we go through daily here at US that are positive. I'll wait for you to be falsely optimistic. Any misery I spew I can always count on you floating into OZ like Glinda in her bubble. You are truly in a dream world. No you COULDN'T imagine flying with me. As for lackluster and airhag I call it like I see it toots. And you say WE laugh at you. YOU have friends? I guess every pot DOES have a lid. Picking out my errors in spelling? Anything to make you look smart. Again...false hopes. I guess I'm just a big liar about someone being treated like crap by scheduling. Who would ever BELIEVE such a thing. I sure hope the fires die down and give these people some relief.

Show me one of your 2,200 posts that is optimistic (see post #24 🙄 ) and I'll tell ya something positive. Phew. Guess I can log off now.

Love, Airhag
