Long story short my son was flying AA from Gye back to Clt(connx in Mia) they took a mtc delay in Gye that made the flt. dept. almost 14 hours late busting all connections of course. He was put on the AA flt from Mia-Clt(rev. stand by) but made it home apprx. 13 hours later than planned.

Without him doing anything, AA sent him a nice email saying they were sorry for what happened & rewarded him 20,000 miles to his FF account

Thank you AA. Now that's the way to keep customers.

Glad to hear some decency was used in dealing with your son, however - have no fear - someone will get fired over that. No good deed remains unpunished at American Airlines. Common sense at American is NOT a virtue and will get one fired in rather short order or, at the very least, produce severe psychological disorders such as depression.

Goose, despite the overall negativity espoused here by employees on a daily basis, as a customer who experiences your service, AA's always done right by me, and usually without asking.

Case and point... y'all brought back premium bag delivery. On my three trips in the past two weeks, my checked bag was delivered *consistently* as one of the first 20-30 bags dumped, and the majority of those 20-30 bags had the orange "premium" tag on them.

Knowing what goes into the load/unload/delivery process to be providing that, I have to say I'm impressed.

In the past, belly segregation was a huge point of failure on flights coming out of DFW and MIA. My sample size of two flights says belly segregation is indeed taking place on outbounds from both ORD and DFW.... flying out of MIA in a couple weeks, and I don't expect it to work, but will be pleasantly surprised when it does.

AA many other carrier do it because of contract of carriage. When a customer purchase a ticket its a contract between the carrier and pax. I have worked in many airlines they handle their problems differently, But have seen pax(s) milk it also. When its due MX or ops reason other than ATC, weather and act of god they are responsible.
