What's new

The 2011 Depression

Since you wandered way off point

If there were no Nazis,

there would be no Volkswagon, who owns Audi.

It was Hitler's peoples car.

I guess that wasn't government support.

1969--Audi NSU is formed after NSU merges with the company; the company's majority shareholder is Volkswagen AG. Meanwhile, Auto Union introduces special shifts to increase productivity to meet the demands of consumers.

So sorry no Nazi Heritage, The original Company was founded in 1909, Balance of Audi Timeline

Sorry to confuse you with facts. Now to bring us back on topic. Gasoline Prices, Crushing Debt/Deficit and astronomical unemployment percentages plague the average working Joe/Jane robbing them of their future and this guy wants to raise taxes?

Remember fuel is a double or triple whammy on the economy. The extra money I now spend on gas is no longer available to spend in a consumer driven society/economy. I am much more proactive when it comes to conservation lowering the number of gallons I purchase AND since I'm in Sales it lengthens the amount of time in the selling cycle, puts downward pressure on prices and lowers my commissions further reducing my disposable income. And the spiral repeats and repeats. All because the Empty Suit has a hatred for oil companies and a burning desire to redistribute wealth from those of us who generate it to slugs who don't, lowering the incentive to get out of bed and make that extra Sales Call, Volunteer for overtime, etc etc etc.

Nope folks Rome is burning and our erstwhile modern day Nero is saying, "Yeah But, Yeah But I got bin Laden". Big freaking deal!!! That was last week, what have you done for me today?

Rant away. Volkswagen owns Audi.

There would be no Volkwagen to own Audi without Hitler.

Some one who posts indiscriminate lies because they are 'interesting' only confuses himself.

Really cool peoples car you got.

Did you date a Jewish woman once, too.

Audi had a long history as a stand alone company, viable & profitable long before VW bought them. So no Nazi Heritage here. I owned a VW and I'm OK with it as at least it's not a falling apart GM junk wagon.

As for Jewish women, I think there were three over the years and the cultural barrier was to much for me as I was very young then.

I post from Mainstream media to, Huffington Post to Town Hall Daily, in part to support my views but to also stimulate the debate. Most of what I post is from Op-Ed sources and one can draw their own conclusions. For me Salon.com and WND are bridges to far. The Libertarian Party stuff is clearly opinion. So I fail to see the problem.

Remember if you're Muslim, the Bible is a lie and vice versa.

Auto Union Type -D

Very impressive car.

A car rescued from a Russian scrapheap more than a decade ago is being touted as what might be the most expensive car ever to sell at auction.

Christie’s will put a 1939 Auto Union D-Type up for bid at the annual Paris vintage-car event, Rétromobile, on Feb. 16-17. It is expected to bring in the neighborhood of $12 million. The world record paid for a car at auction is £5.5 million (approximately $11 million) for a 1931 Bugatti Type 41 Royale Sports Coupe in November 1987.

This Auto Union is believed to be one of two in existence; this particular car won the 1939 Belgrade Grand Prix with driver Tazio Nuvolari behind the wheel.

Its history includes a role in defining events of the 20th century. In 1933, German chancellor Adolf Hitler, aiming to Boost that country’s international standing, offered 500,000 reichsmarks to any firm that could build a grand prix car for the 1934 season. After meeting with engineer Ferdinand Porsche and driver Hans Stuck, Hitler was persuaded to share the money between Mercedes and the newly formed Auto Union—a conglomeration of Audi, Horscht, DKW and Wanderer. The result was the Mercedes W136 and the Auto Union, which evolved into the D-Type.

The race car, designed by Porsche, was revolutionary for grand prix cars of the era. Porsche put the driver forward of the supercharged V12 engine (the first Auto Unions had V16 powerplants) and fuel tanks, unusual for race cars of the time. So, too, was the independent suspension and de Dion rear axle.

With the start of World War II, racing ceased and the cars were stored. Following the war, with Auto Union headquarters now under Soviet control, this model was sent to Russia to be studied for its technology. There it was found in pieces, with the body separate from the chassis, waiting to be crushed.

It went to England where Rod Jolley Coachbuilding re-created it to the original specs. Crosthwaite (“Toymakers for the Ages,” Jan. 31, 2000) and Gardiner finished the restoration, and it was track-tested at the Nürburgring in October 1994. According to a press release, it has been “meticulously preserved in the same state ever since.”

Auto Union Type -D

Very impressive car.

Audi has always made interesting cars. Like the 10 Cylinder Turbo Diesel that won Le Mans. A german consortium, M-B, VW & Audi pooled resources and developed clean diesel technology. As a result we now have Jetta TDI's sold in CA along with other "Clean Diesel" cars. My old Dirty Diesel used to get about 53MPG and the clean ones get around 46MPG with none of the issues created by the use of Nickle in Hybrid Batteries. Nickle Mining is a true environmental scar and you NEVER hear a peep from the tree hugger crowd about that. Nope only the Liberal orthodoxy of "Oil Companiies Bad, Alternative Energy Good"

This blind following of any orthodoxy is bad for an economy. Diesel reduces our dependence on foreign oil, right here, right now WITHOUT the nightmare of Nickle mining. Lady I work with has run her small college fleet on bio diesel for years which is kinda cool.

Just because the hybrids are not good does not negate 'oil bad alternative good'.

I drive a diesel so you are preaching to the choir on that one. I suspect there are more than environmentalist against the idea of diesels. The american people do not like diesels. Too slow, too noisy, too smelly. Never mind that all of those issues are relevant any more. Oil companies would not be selling as much gas but some how I bet the fuel prices would be higher than they are now. Never mind the fact that diesel cost more than PUG even though it takes less refinement. Consumers here do not have a choice.

OK, It still shows the hypocrisy of the Left. Embracing a dirty technology. Kinda like forgetting to remember his 25,000 square mansion, constant use of private jets, that his fortune came from his Dad's Tobacco farm while according to the Pope of Junk Science, Earth hung in the balance

Hell even Frank Zappa's old nemesis, Tipper got tired of his hypocrite ass, BTW what's the head environmental liar up to these days? I mean the internet has already been invented?

Wall Street Baffled by Slowing Economy, Low Yields

"Interest rates are amazingly low and that, thanks to Ben Bernanke, is driving everything," Yastrow said. "We’re on the verge of a great, great depression. The [Federal Reserve] knows it.

Well Folks the hits just keep coming. This juicy tidbit comes to us from our friends at Reuters.

150 Economists Back US Republicans in Debt Fight

More than 150 economists back U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner's call to match any increase in the debt limit with spending cuts of equal size, according to a letter released by the Republican leader's office Wednesday.

Congressional Leaders Meet With Obama And Biden At White House Over Budget

U.S. President Barack Obama is struggling to raise US debt ceiling without attaching spending cuts to the bill.

The letter will give Boehner an important talking point as he and his fellow House Republicans meet with President Barack Obama at 10 a.m. to discuss the debt limit and other fiscal issues.

"An increase in the national debt limit that is not accompanied by significant spending cuts and budget reforms to address our government's spending addiction will harm private-sector job creation in America," the letter said.

Signatories include Nobel laureate Robert Mundell of Columbia University and economists from schools like New York University and Georgetown University, as well as conservative think tanks like the American Enterprise Institute.

The Rest Of The Story

I thought the 2011 Depression was starting in May, or was it the Rapture?

Well if you die of starvation because of the policies of the Empty Suit and go to heaven or you go to heaven during the Rapture two things occur to me.

1. In earthly terms are you any less dead?
2. Heaven is Heaven, so does it matter how you got there?

VOTE LIBERTARIAN - COULD IT BE WORSE?
