Got to see it today. Each engine was started, and sat there idling all lumpy and powerful. Then the throttles were advanced, and all the roughness went away and it was just one smooth powerful rumble. It grew to a roar, still smooth as silk, and the plane moved away. Down at the end of the field, it sat with its lumpy idle until cleared for takeoff. Within a few feet, the tail was up, and the plane just levitated into the air. It continued at a low altitude for a full length fly-by so everyone could see and hear what a beautiful piece of aviation machinery it is before it disappeared into the setting sun.

Good advertising for American.
