I think there are quite a few airline analysts and CEOs who would differ with your assertion of how temporary the changes we are seeing in the airline biz will be.
Are these the same analysts that agreed that the Business cycle was not a part of the NEW Economy, the same CEOS that spent money like drunken sailors on Movie theaters, Sports Arenas and outrageous compensation for themselves? Right now its in their best interests to claim that the sky is falling, just like 1982 and 1992. It helps in their efforts to panic their employees into agreeing to long term concessions like at USAIR and gaining public sympathy for another federal handout.
