I consider the republicans to be equally useless at this point in history, except to their corporate masters. You've certainly got the "weak incumbent" part understated, to say the least. No matter. If enough "Hope and Change" is long-maintained, and countless millions are fed and sheltered by the Nanny State, merely so's to exist and breed yet more parasites/dependably-democrat-voters? It's interesting to me how many people refer to themselves as an "independent," "libertarian," instead of Republican these days. Same story with "liberal" or "progressive" in lieu of Democrat.
Seems like a testament to just how out of touch both parties are with what they think are their respective bases?

I have been registered member of the Libertarian Party since 1980. This is not a new thing for me. It started as part of my reaction to Vietnam. That war opened up a lot of eyes as to just how things are run and some of us don't like it so much.
A good number of folks are finally waking up a bit as to how much wholesale contempt both supposed "sides" really have for the American People...that they only laughably and supposedly "represent." Ask yourselves why it is that both "sides" have no problem maintaining such insane obscenities as the "War on Drugs", or making attempts to disarm the People, or continued spying-on and ever-increasing assaults on personal Liberty and individual Rights in general?

For a local government it's up to the elected officials. 10th Amendment. You could look it up instead of spewing talking points written by someone else.
