What's new

The 'PRIDE'...of Albany Georgia !

[sub]I'd argue that very few people over 50 haven't uttered a few things racial or otherwise they wish they hadn't! We are all human beings and therefore flawed. My issue is when you turn actions into words.[/sub]

Hey Paula,......I hope.......' Y'ALL ' don't own any.......( 'click' ) GUNS !

So Bill Maher can say someone's son is retarded and keep his show. Is that fair?

Wonder how many times Ms. Dean was called a Honky or White Cracker? Where was the outcry ?

Perhaps it had something to do with all the persecution the whites have had to endure over the past 1,000 years.

Wonder if the Food Network will cancel this show................wheres the media ? And where are all the Demorat Libtards ?

"Michigan Democrat Calls Her Colleague the N-Word!"

Earlier Platko told NBC 25 that her comments were "not a race thing."

http://politix.topix.com/homepage/5850-michigan-democrat-calls-her-colleague-the-n-word

"72% of all registered Democrats sadly report to having extreme disappointment in Obama's performance since the election. 48% admit to having used the "N" word in private when discussing Obama at least once in the past 6 months. 34% report also throwing the word "stupid" in front of that. And at least 12% of the time there was an unprintable word used in between."

Demorats ? Racists? Say it ain't so !

Nice try Tree. A derogatory term, is a "Derogatory" term..............period !

I disagree. Intent and history have a large part in it. Insults give from a position of authority have a vastly different effect that insults generated from a subjugated position.

With all the guilt you must feel, why don't you start paying reparations to someone ?

You have a real issue arguing the issues don't you. All else fails ... hurl an insult.

Not to be flip but I am guessing from all your response you are a white christian. You do not understand what it is to be a minority. There is nothing I or anyone else can say that will change that fact.

Having said that, the fact that you can equate the 'N' word with Honkey, cracker or any other white insult is sad in my opinion. There is so much more that goes with the "n" term than just the word. It has a history that no white person has ever experienced.

Not that either insult is good, but one is far far worth than the other.

If it's "SO" insulting, why do the brothers hurl it out at each other? Oh, I get it ! It only matters depending on what color you are, when using the term, which is racism itself !

Am I sorry slavery happened, yes. Am I responsible, for slavery in the past, no. Do I feel guilty, no. Do I feel I owe anyone respect, I owe them the same respect they show me !

You answered you own question but I believe you came to the incorrect conclusion. Best analogy I have is this. Have you ever called your mother a b1tch? I know I have called my mom that a whole bunch of times (never to her face). How do you feel when someone else calls your mother a b!tch? You can do it because she is your mother, others, not so much. Same premise. That's fine. I'm first generation US so I know I have nothing to do with the slavery here in the US. I believe there is a difference between guilt and responsibility. While I am not guilty of the crimes comited by my forefathers. I do believe that as an American I am responsible for the actions this nation has taken. Slavery did happen and thew subjugation of blacks was not a short inconvenience. Passing a few laws back in the 60's does not erase what happened. It had long term impacts on people psyche, family structure, trust in government and law enforcement..... to name a few things. I am not arguing that these are excuses but they are issues that need to be dealt with in my opinion though I do not know how.Perhaps you should start with a little respect here on the board. Just an idea.
