Before the usual "Crusaders" start yelling Hellfire + Damnation, note that Alaska has a repug Gov., and majority in their house, and Senate. Also the Rep. from wasilla(Palins home town), voted with the majority to NOT postpone this investigation until AFTER 11/4

*** - 12 member State Legislative Council(made up of Repugs, and democrats Unanimously Approve the Investigation !!

*** - Palin staff members may Fight the subpoena's

(BOY, where have we heard THAT before) ???

Great. Perhaps we'll finally find out why the trooper who used a taser on his 10 year old stepson managed to keep his job. Seems to me endangering a child with a weapon deserved a little more than five days suspended duty. Hell, the mechanics caught sleeping on the job got worse that the child abuser did.

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, any efforts to find out just how cozy the Obamas were with admitted domestic terrorist William Ayer, or just what dealings Tony Rezko had with the Obamas, continue to be stonewalled at every turn.

AND (Eric), maybe we'll find out why safety commisioner Monegan got FIRED from his job !!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the cop is a dirt bag, but according to the ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS, the BIPARTISAN Alaska Legislator wants to know why private citizen Mr. Palin was "cc" into E-mails about trooper Wooten !(and thats just for starters)

They want to know WHY, and they want to know ..NOW !!

Did I say that the Legislative Council was "BIPARTISAN" ??...(Oh yes, I did...sorry)

Methinks that as long as "what happens in Alaska..stays in Alaska" is kept statewide, that it would be, business as usual,......BUT now that the WHOLE state is under the World Eye, that it's "everybody..C Y A" !!

(Throw in..7 count INDICTED Repug US Sen. Ted Stevens for "good measure")

Why does it seem that since 2000, your Party has been CONSTANTLY "taking it in the SHORTS" 🙄 ..or "taking it on the chin" with the Law ??

Don't you realize we're talking about The "Self-Annointed" One !

Blasphemer !

Now the Demorats are comparing Nobama to Jesus..........They were both "Community Organizers" !

Give me a freakin' break !

All of the papers have been released about Obama's work on a committe in which William Ayer was on. I would think that if there were any thing to it that it would be on fox news by now. Also, I keep hearing in the news that Palin is being touted as going head to head with the Alaska legislators on corruption, maybe that is why they voted to speed up the trooper investigation. She may have made a lot of enemies. Just a thought.

I think eolesen made a legitimate point about Tony Rezco. Maybe I missed it but I have yet to see the anchors of the big three ask Obama about his relationship with a convicted felon. It seems very little attention has been paid to it.

Guess the whole Rev. Wright thing was a blessing in disguise for Obama. People talked about it non-stop for awhile but in the end Wright was nothing more than a sanctimonious loud mouth preacher.

777,

Nightly News on NBC did a long investigative story on it in January. I watched it. I also remember Tim Russert questioning Obama on the transaction and relationship. I am in Chicago; I have seen several newspaper items in both the Sun Times and Tribune regarding the subject. I think I remember reading an article about the relationship in either Newsweek or U.S. News as well. I am not privy to any info outside what has been presented by the media, but perhaps there will not be any more outwardly "questioning" until more info arises that suggests that something beyond what has already been reported had occured.

Reports already surfacing that the Democrats in AK have been tampering with the subpoena lists for the "independent" investigation.

Dems are running scared. RealClearPolitics.com is showing the electoral map swinging more and more to McCain. McCain's up 20 votes excluding swing states, and FL, IN, & MN are leaning McCain after having been leaning Obama.

Bears, don't blow your head off when the Dems lose, OK? 😉

Do you know for a fact that this is true? Or, could this just be another custody battle false accusation that occurs in divorce courts around the country every day? My friend who is a divorce lawyer tells me that those kinds of accusations--husband spends his time at home looking at porn on the Internet; husband sexually abuses the children; wife has sex with the 17 year old neighbor boy--are tried every day. And, then the accuser is outraged when the court tells them they have to provide proof, and if no proof, they will be charged with perjury.

But then, maybe Alaska's courts don't require proof...

It is interesting to me how the Republican members of the board love to shout "Stay on topic" when the topic is Democratic malfeasance, but when the topic is Republican malfeasance we seem to have a rash of "Well, let's not forget that back in 1933 FDR tried to pack the Supreme Court, and Clinton did (fill in the blank) and Hillary did (fill in the blank)."

Reminds me of dealing with children.

"Tommy, you are grounded for putting jam on the cat."
"Why me? Billy cut the garden hose."
"We're not talking about Billy right now."
"It's not fair. You let Billy do anything he wants to."

Don't start on me. I don't have a dog in this hunt. I'm a divine right monarchist myself.

Documented and on the record. Wooten was on CNN last night saying the kid asked him what it felt like, so he put it on "test" and zapped the kid.... He also admitted to shooting a moose without a license, because his wife had one. If we give this guy a pass because he was married to the governor's sister, that's just as bad as holding him to a higher standard because of his relationship.

If you ask me, Wooten is a bad apple. All the kerfuffle about what the Governor did or didn't do is just a smokescreen.

I'm not saying that the ex-brother-in-law is not a stinker. The whole family seems a bit distasteful to me. However, as a State of Alaska employee he has a right to an established process for termination. If their employees are unionized, I imagine it is even more rigid.

The trooper may or may not have been skinning baby squirrels alive and eating them raw, but what the Governor apparently did is NOT a smokescreen. Using power to unjustly punish others (the Public Safety Commissioner) because they refuse to break the law is wrong.

And, I know all about her claiming that she knew nothing about "one of her staffers" calling the PSC to get the ex-brother-in-law fired. I'm sure. Just like V-P Cheney knew nothing about Scooter Libby outing Valerie Plame to the press.

This entire process is discriminatory on the basis of her sex and her faith. No white male would be subjected to this level of scrutiny over such decisions. They're trying to portray Palin as some sort of dominatrix, which is insulting.

The trooper's personal conduct (outside of his job) at the very least indicates that he's of poor character, something that I'm positive was reflected in his work. It may have come to everyone's attention what poor character he was as a result of the relationship with Palin because she knew him personally but that's no excuse for her overlooking gross misconduct on the part of her brother in law. It would have been unethical for her not to act. Sometimes, the guy you went to high school with is the guy who arrests you for drunk driving. It sucks to know the person who is the enforcer, but that's life.

Alaska AG, says subpoenaed people will Refuse to testify.
This could backfire on the McCain/Palin ticket. Lets suppose the Gov. was guilty of abuse of power. One would think that the Ak. republicans could at least drag this out beyond 11/4, at which point (if she got elected) it would make no difference(at least I don't think so).

However, by Stalling, this will create an Anchor Drag that McCain doesn't need.
