 According to the OKC Journal Record, “The state Senate Finance Committee has approved a bill to fund construction of two maintenance hangars for American Airlines' Tulsa Maintenance and Engineering Base. State Sen. Brian A. Crain, R-Tulsa, authored a substitute for Senate Bill 1921, which was filed and passed Tuesday by the state Senate Finance Committee. It now goes before the full Senate, which has three weeks to consider its endorsement before reaching the bill deadline for advancement to the state House.â€￾ For more information, see the attached article.

Just another way for the Oklahoma politicians and AA to get in your pockets for CORPORATE WELFARE.
It is B.S.and I hope the full Oklahoma Senate defeats the proposal.Let the upper management bonuses' pay for the 2 new hangars instead of the Oklahoma taxpayers.


In the article, it sounded like AA told Tulsa, that if these hangars weren't built, the work would move to MCI!

Just another example of AA corporate extortion. The Oklahoma politicians should tell AA to spend their own money[upper management bonuses]or else take a hike.

If AMR Corp., the Fort Worth parent of American, should fail to keep that investment level, Crain said the state could reclaim and sell the hangars to other operators."

There is no way the average payroll in Tusa is $40000 right now.

Just about everybody in Tulsa is toped out.
Since the vast majority of the workers are mechanics making a little over $60000 / year or $31/hour, what is the significance of the average payroll number of $40000 that is included on the bill Crain supports?

When AA seeks more paycuts, the average may very will drop to the $40,000 average.

I haven't read the bill, but I suspect that the minimum payroll guarantee runs for a number of years - and that AA and Crain are covering the (unlikely) event that AA grows and eventually hires new mechanics (and OSMs) which would bring the average down quickly. Don't OSMs make much less already than the $31/hr TOS?

Concessions to lower the average of the current mechanics to $20/hr? Not gonna happen. And if AA asks - I hope everyone just says "no."

But no way would any company agree to set that bar at a high level - much better to set it low.

<_< Isn't this the way aa has always worked? Play one city against the other, one group against another? Has worked well for them in the past, and sounds like it's still working for them! I call it extortion! But who am I to judge? ;)
 
Sounds like the state of Oklahoma has given AA the go-ahead to cut average pay to $40,000. Now all we need is the TWU's approval.

More mechs will be reduced to OSM status, I'll wager.

<_<---- But we don't live in Oklahoma! And we don't have OSMs!!!! :p But we do have to deal with the TWU! ;)
 
They will spin off the tulsa base as an AMR subsidiary. All Tulsa AMTs will top out at 40K under a new twu without further ratification contract. If you dont like it take a hike. That is the writing on the wall ;)

The line stations will remain intact under a seperate contract. If you live in tulsa and want to make more money then bid to a line station. :p
 
Remember...

Right-to-Work lowers wages.

And the TWU is making sure this stands true.

Even though we do not even fall under the Right-to-Work law since we are RLA, the TWU leadership is dead set on proving that passage of a Right-to-Work law reduces wages and benefits.

Corporate Welfare and the Government Subsidizing Jobs is closer to Socialism form of Government than a free Capitalist Society. Why worry about the Communist? We have our own version forming right on our own soil right under our noses.
 
Tulsa Oklahoma should remember what United did to Indianapolis! At least AA hasn't totally trashed the mechanic community there, you should all be thankful for that. So maybe it will be a good thing for AA and OK. But what the hell do I know, since Princess K. the Nostradamus of US Aviation says no one will have a job at F9 by 2011? :up: What a PUTZ!!!! :p
