What a crock.United isn't going anywhere.




Well, I have learned to never say never... But most of these baffoons wouldn't know a golf club if it hit em upside the head... UAL has its problems, but doubtfully will be the first to tank... Most of the airlines lost significant amounts of money due to hedging.. Its a gamble people... tilton is a moron, no doubt, but when you are in a plush california king having an orgy with all the board members and rolling around in money, who would want to leave... The employees of the company will have to stand up to him during negotiations and show the moron who is boss... UAL WAS a very good company and can still be, with the right management..

777's "old", 400's "old", A330's "old" clearly, this imbecile doesn't have a clue as to the age and performance of airplanes.

I guess everybody that doesn't order 787's are finished. I guess the New Delta/NW is next for the grave.
 
What I find amazing is his assertions that an order for a 787 or a350 will save money. The airplanes UAL will have after the 737 retirements will be some of the most fuel efficient of those that have airworthiness certificates. As of now the 787 is a "baddreamliner", as Boeing is proving itself to be immensely challenged at actually getting the airplane to fly. Perhaps UAL will be in a unique position of not having large outlays of cash for airplanes that would cost more to purchase and not be that much more efficient. With fuel prices dropping, the amount of loss on hedges will be offset with the purchase of cheaper fuel at spot prices. Also, what are the unique advantages of a 787 versus a 777? The 787 is said to be overweight and perhaps not as efficient as once hoped. (remember the MD-11) Until the 787 proves it is a real airplane, I would not hedge the future of the company on the lack of an order.

This gentleman that writes this blog is also on the a.net forum under his name Hamad. Generally he is always critical of UAL, short on facts or any true clue. That is OK if that is his schtick, but to post his blog as a news story here is certainly taking some liberties with what might be construed as actual news.

If I remember correctly he is also a former UA office worker from EXO. He moved to the gulf to work for Emirates. Maybe UA's service at Dubai skimming some EK traffic and some financial realities setting in for the Gulf Nations, he might be lashing at UA out of desperation for his own situation.

I have no way of validating the accuracy of the writer's comments about United; however, he should check basic facts before writing. Chevron dropped the Texaco from the ChevronTexaco name over a year ago.

I read today that Qantas was taking a 786million dollar charge because they were 97% hedged at $106 a bbl. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/11/25/business/qantas.php

Hamad is a having difficulty making his arguments with facts getting in the way.
