Wondering if there is more to this than just a credit union merger......

When did the US credit union (whatever it's name was changed to previously) merge with the Continental credit union? I've been with PACU since I was hired so paid no attention to the US credit union happenings.

Jim

US Airways credit union (America West) was part of Continental Federal Credit Union. They merged with United's Alliant Credit Union in January.

When did that happen. Like I said, I haven't kept track of the US credit union happenings but remember it changing it's name - during on of the BK's I think.

Not that it matters to me in the least, just curious.

Are you thinking about US Air Federal Credit Union, which changed its name to Clearview Federal Credit union? They changed the name and charter of the Credit Union when Airways was in one of the reorganizations. The current US Airways credit union that just merged, I believe, was America Wests Credit union.

That may be my confusion - I assumed that Clearview merged with the AW credit union at some point (just as PACU was at one time planned to merge with what was then the US Airways CU.

So, I assume that Clearview still exists as a stand-alone CU?

Yes, Clearview is still a stand alone credit union. They were the original US Air CU that was was headquartered in Moon Township PA. After one of the bankruptcies, they reorganized as a community credit union and membership is open to more than just airline employees.

Thanks - that was definitely the source of my confusion. When the article mentioned "US Airways Credit Union members" I automatically thought of Clearview.

BTW, I really like the new Credit Union a lot. No fees at all even pays intrest on checking. The old AWA CAL union stank,.
