UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR----E190's to be sold

Would those be 319's or 320's?
According to AirFleets, Frontier only has 4 A320's. The bulk of their fleet, 38 planes, is made up of A319's. There are also 7 A318's as someone else mentioned.

Given past practice, starting with getting the 'right' people on the bus and running who is left over with it.

The 190s will go to Republic.

Way back in July a visionary was born.

Having maybe got something right once proves blind pigs do find acorns.

Are you serious? Do you understand the concept of the minimum fleet count whatsoever? Do you have any awareness of your industry and position outside of counting Pringles?

Let me explain it the way I would to a child.

Let's say US Airways has ten Airbuses. They have to have at least ten Airbuses or they will get in trouble.

US Airways also has 5 Embraers.

If US Airways takes 2 Airbuses away and 10 Embraers away, and adds 2 Airbuses, how many F/As does US Airways have?

🙄

Yummy, Pringles are gooood! I like to take 2 turn one upside down and make a little trumpet shape, which I then hold in my mouth giving me the appearence of having a duckbill, I then explain to the child, that in your original hypothetical USAirways only had 5 embraers, so it would be pretty hard to take away 10, but if they did they would still have enough F/As to kick off an intoxicated passenger going to New Mexico.

So the wife gets back from Europe. On the overnight she goes out w/ the front end for beers. One of the guys is a union guy who says we will be someone else within a year also that A/C type/s will be going away. Take it for what it's worth - Yinz.

US Airways also has 5 Embraers.

Each Airbus employs three F/As. So there's thirty F/As.

Each Embraer employs 2 F/As. So there's 10 F/As.

If you add together the Airbuses and the Embraers, how many F/As does US Airways have?

If US Airways takes 2 Airbuses away and 10 Embraers away, and adds 2 Airbuses, how many F/As does US Airways have?

Are you talking to me?

The E-190 isn't included in the minimum fleet. We are however returning some of our Airbuses and Boeing 737's to the leasers and that would recoupe some of those losses.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

My guess here would be these would not add to the fleet but just replace the 733 that will continue to be parked next year.
Just a guess.

" would most likely go to Republic's E175 "

They are already flying something like 17 too many Large small jets.

You are CORRECT. So these secondhand Airbuses would simply be replacing those older frames, as would eventually be done anyway. So no gain there whatsoever. Losing the E190s would mean job loss and loss of seniority all around because they are not included in the minimum fleet, they are in ADDITION, which is good. It's not an even trade for labor. It's giving something away without getting anything in addition, as like you said these glamorous secondhand A320s are only replacing one for one part of the minimum fleet.

It would put more flight attendants on the industry leading LTO straight reserve system so many want to cling to, so maybe that's the positive you are seeing?

I gotta say, it's kind of easy to see here why US Airways stews want to stick with pilots rather than negotiate their own future btw...

As far as E175s go, US is looking to cut capacity. They cannot break contracts with Republic or Air Wisconsin (that lucrative 50 seat RJ flying <_< <_< ), and cannot dip below the mainline minimum fleet, but would happily do so if they could. The 190s are outside the minimum so the company gets it's capacity reduction, gets to shrink mainline by 25 frames and make up the loss with RP. It works out wonderfully, for them. Not to mention they don't have to bother a merger partner by bringing 100 seat jets flown by pesky mainline employees to the table, which could be the difference in thousands of jobs in the long run.

Looks as though the "Rumor" has just turned to fact.........

...and since it is now confirmed, we can close this thread and open another.
