to do well in the long term they really have to cater more to the business traveler, and the business traveler needs reliability and is less willing to put up with some of the aspects of a poorly run airline,"

All they had to do was read what has been posted on this forum for the last three years...

Isom says US Airways compares itself with other large network carriers because their operations are most similar.
" Headley says of US Airways' 2010 ranking. "It seems kind of crazy to me to have an airline say, 'We're just going to count the big ones.'"

Good old USA Today!! A day late and a dollar short. I still maintain the US is "Managing the numbers" and not the airline. Just flew with to PVD from the Great White North and every single departure was a push back and sit for ten minutes. When I say push back I mean 30 feet off the gate, jetway parked. Schedule padding still exists and while I'm only one person last two trips have involved delayed or damaged bags.

People are still great though.

OK, this bipolar industry never ceases to amaze me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we recently talking about US being at the bottom of every airline list there is? So why is it on top of this list, and why are you all b*thing about US work conditions. According to the USA Today article the employees are the real winners.

The thing is this only compares US to the legacies and not the lcc such as WN.

I'm guessing that you were in a holding pattern. It happens when the airport you are flying to may have bad weather or heavy air traffic or something.

I think its a great article .And I think it proves that USAirways is a much better airline than it was 5 yrs ago . We still have much more room to improve though .

I get that!

However when you push back you trip ACARS and the flight is recorded as departing "On Tine" even though you may never actually become airborne for 30 minutes. US also has longer trip times between city pairs. In fairness some of this has to do with the PHL factor an ATC there.

Have there been improvements? Absolutely! Not to be a wise ass but they had no place to go but up after 2007. So improvement would be the expectation not the pleasant surprise.

IMO a lot of the improvements have come at the expense of service recovery which I always felt was US's strength pre-merger. Now the airlines ability to get back on schedule seems to be declining.

Airlines like US have added time to actually make it look like on-time. If an on time flight took 3 hours for instance, they add an extra hour to declare it on time! Airlines play a game to give leahway time to create the illusion that flights are on time. Mussolini did the same thing to the Italian railroad to declare that trains were on time

Let me use this example to make my point-If it took an hour to fly Philly to Charlotte, airlines add an extra hour in case there are delays. Fictional? But you get the point! B)

You can dress it up and run a better airline on the backs of your employees but US is and will remain for as far I can see a Hokie Pokie, Hodge Podge chitty chitty bang bang airline. Slip covered, spray painted and well ya all get the point. Improvements are needed for the business traveller as US is still LIGHTYEARS behind their competition and the employees are treated like AEROFLOT. No wait, they are treated better.

Service gets better when you take vacations and days off. You are the most negative person I've ever seen. Go work at the DMV, you would fit in there.

That's a bit unfair. When employees invest a number of years into an organization only to see their best efforts dismissed out of hand how would you react?

What like being rescued from chapter 7 and turning a profit so they could still have jobs? Those bastards!!!!
