Us Airways Hiring Mechanics In Boston?

Sounds like they can't get anyone to move there. So they are hiring off the street. DL has had guys on furlough but has hired for LGA a few times.

You are 100% correct.. With the cost of living in the Boston Metro area and the paycuts its pretty tough to work at Logan..

The company had bids up for weeks and no takers..

if IAM (no pun intended) correct there were something like 17 or 19 resignations en masse and those people went with jet blue i believe???

In BOS you can make more money throwing trash in a truck than you can signing off logbooks for the U.
Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Not only can you wipe with your A+P, It's that warm feeling you get when it crumbles that makes you realize, maybe I've been had!

With the track record of this company not many mechanics in their right mind would up and move to Boston to keep their job. For one the money is not there and two you move up there only to get abolished a month or two later. Sure they will get some takers, new mechanics right out of school, work at U for a year or two(if they are lucky) and then move on to Jet Blue. Boston will be a continious revolving door.

Not that I want the job, but why haven't I been called? Is it only by your layoff station or have they thorw out the list completely?

You will only get called for your recall station. You are free to bid any opening, they have posted jobs for BOS numerous times with no takers.

They went to America West if my memory serves me correctly.

I'm from Boston (Everett) and was hired there. I chose the layoff out of PIT. Too expensive to go back home.

I'm from Danvers. I would have taken the layoff in PIT as well.. Instead I accepted a job with another airline. No way I am going back to Boston, to expensive to live.. Especially at US Airways wages... You would need another
job to pay the mortgage.

I grew up in Danvers.I chose to terminate my employment with U.
