Us Airways Mechanics Experience Somber Day

Sad to say that he does enjoy posting stuff like this. Hopefully someday he will be posting about his own fate as he is shoved out the door.

Sorry to all of those losing their jobs. I know how it feels. Even though I am at MAA I am still unsure of my fate at U. Good luck to all. 🙁

You know even though I was told by the moderator to keep my posts on topic and to leave you alone I have to say you are a sad member of this Forum.

Of all the people that post on this website this is one post you should have been
smart enough not to put up..

You are a sad person who lives in a sad little world. I pity you.

Any human that gets ever lasting joy out of seeing fellow employee's lose their jobs and placing their lives and families in a very stressful situation is sad.. When the day comes, and it will, that US Airways closes its doors forever I hope you have the balls to come on this Forum and post that little link. I bet you won't.

You sir are a coward and a company mouth piece.. Your day is coming.

Moderator do what you have to do..

No offense to other US pilots, but there will be many who will welcome the following story, as long as 320 is included:

Officially, today is the last work day for 416 laid-off US Airways pilots. The number of pilots' jobs in Pittsburgh has now been reduced from 1,135 to 661, said Tim McCulloch, a committeeman with the Air Line Pilots Associationl.

Many pilots, who fly airplanes and are also ALPA members, will have their last work day today as well, McCulloch said. Their forces will be cut from more than 100 to 25.

All told, the layoffs reduce the pilot employment at Pittsburgh by 800, as the airline had targeted, said Amy Kudwa, US Airways spokeswoman. The number was reached through retirements, incentives and furloughs.

Good luck to all my A&P brothers who have been thrown to the street, your skills will carry you upwards in whatever field you choose.

Nobody likes seeing anybody laid off. In fact, I have been fighting on this message board for union sanity that could have prevented many of the furloughs.

Union resistance to change caused the employees to give more than the company's "ask", with the IAM giving 40% more than the company's opening offer.

As one colleague of mine said today, "stop shelling your own troops".

Yesterday was my last day after 17 years in aircraft maintenance. Don't feel sorry for me. I took the v/s and now I feel liberated from the skull drudgery that only UAIR can mete out. I am free  !! Add another dedicated professional to the list of those departing.

What you should feel sorry for is "your" aircraft in the hands of illegals, boobs and hacks at these 3rd party providers  . Perhaps the day will come when capt jackass has a near death experience while flying one of the flying sh*t-boxes that UAIR is paying MAE over $50 per man hour <_< ??????? Yet at $23 per hour UAIR's own mechanics are a liability to the company. You bastards will get what you have coming in the not too distant future.......and I will be here to shove it up your pompous, know it all, butts. You can count on that B) .

To my deserving ex-coworkers who have remained employed beyond their desires I truly wish you the best of everything in life.....now and in the future.

As for all you sissy company yes men........enjoy the misery created by your willingness to roll over for everything the company asked for. You REALLY are a sorry lot  😛 !!!!!

To quote the company EAP rep who visited the hangar one day "the only ones that are having issues are the ones who have to stay".

When the word came down Wed afternoon that all could leave the mood was more of celebration.

After almost 17 years my career at U has come to an end. I plan on taking the summer off, with pay of course and then moving onward. With the training I have received at U I will have no problem finding employment, at a higher wage than U.

Hopefully the company will hang on long enough for those affected to collect the full seperation package the company offered. I have my doubts though with this current managment team, espicially in the maintenence dept.

Good luck to all!!!!!!

So even if you were right what good does it do now to say "I told you so"? That is most likely why you got the response you did from justamachanic.

I do feel for all of the folks being laid off. it was because of you all fine mechanics that i nonreved a lot but now i have chosen to fly as a full rev pax on continental and their express affiliate. My heart and prayers go out to each and every one of you fine folks that got axed. as for 21 of us rampers in abe, we will know next week when our turn is. sad sad sad what a pathetic outfit this airline is now. 🙁

USA320Pilot comments: One of the most stressful issues in life is a layoff and I feel for those who have to suffer through this. I started this thread by posting a article and then some frustrated employees "started shooting the messenger". This is not about who is right or wrong, it's about people trying to help others and the results speak for them self.
