I guess its right to get money from the government if it serves your purpose, but not others? Is the government financial gift and assistance program different? That depends on a person’s point of view, I guess. By the way, could AA have applied for the loan guarantee and was it available to the company?
[post="258615"][/post]
My point of view is AA has NOT recieved a ATSB backed loan. AA did not apply for or need one, then or now. Back to the original point U could not then or now survive with out a tax payer government backed loan.

The PBGC agreed to take on US Airways' underfunded pension and filed a motion with the bankruptcy court seeking the funds. Did you selectively miss that point too?
[post="258615"][/post]
True. What was the other option? Their duty is to take on the pensions of failed companies. Was there another alternative? No!
USA320Pilot said:
I understand why you're not concerned about your pension because the PBGC award is about the same as your current retirement plan.
[post="258615"][/post]
No you dont, I am not concerned becuse it is of such a small amout as to not be figured in to my retirement plans. So, should feel bad because pilots wont get there multi million dollar lump sum retirements?

Furthermore, I fully understand why you "would like to hope my medical and pass benefits will still exist." Guess what? US Airways employees hope that too and are not lobbying for the demise of your company, like you appear to be here.
[post="258615"][/post]
????? Who should I direct the comment too. Every day fewer and fewer people work for U.
USA320Pilot said:
Why don't you just stick to the AA board because it's obvious your interest in US Airways is "self interest" and preservation.
[post="258615"][/post]
Yours is not. You are far more in to self intrest than I. I post here because I can. until the moderators limit us to a single sub-board I will continue to post my feeling here or any where else I so choose. Its a open board not your tiny kingdom.

Bruce Lakefield has commented on how many of US Airways' competitors are upset that US Airways still exists today and will likely survive the industry shakeout.
[post="258615"][/post]
Then he woke up sweating and realizing he too worked for U. But settled in when he recalled his monthly housing income, protected pension and over compensated salary. Turns out the competition is rightfully pissed because there is not a fair playing field. Competitors actuallly have to pay there bills live up to there obligations and run a workable business plan with out relying on tax payer subsidies.

It appears you feel the same way as US Airways' competitors, which is something I believe, is distasteful because I do not want to see any company disappear and people hurt.
[post="258615"][/post]
NEWS FLASH people are being hurt. U has farmed out maintenance, res and ticketing jobs. U is running rudderless and taking the people left on a ride. Pilot and fa jobs being sent to express. How long until U is nothing but a piece of paper and a few millionaire managers? The people and jobs at U are disappering fast. If you think you are not on the radar to be replaced or farmed out. You are in a fantasy world.
If U shuts down, or simply farms out all the jobs, which is better and hurts fewer people at U?

I have a little story for you capt. Keep it in mind as the people around your company slowly disappear. Your nearly joyous post at the loss of many jobs in maintenance. Reminded me of this by Martin Niemoeller. Instead of communists put
reservations, instead of socialists put
utilities, instead of unionists put
ticketing, instead of Jews put
maintenance. When they farm out the flying and you look around for support. Remember you said nothing in support of those who you saw being walked out the door in the months and years earlier.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Try to paint me as the bad guy for saying the truth about USAIRWAYS, but really you need a long look in the mirror.
