US Airways Survival in Question... Again.

There is like one sentence regarding US Airways, should be moved to aviation news.

You do not find this one sentence relevant in any way?

Are you blind to the ramifications of what is coming down the road in the worst recession since the great depression?

You apparently disagree and do not think that U's position is precarious.

Is this not worth discussing?

What rosy picture do you have to paint or are you more well informed than the Forbes reporter?

I would be interested in what you would have to say about his opinion.

Do you have an opinion other than - this is just news ?

Maybe you're right - what is news for anyway?

For the past 15 years everyone has been calling for the demise of US and the past five years they say the same for UA.

Its just old all ready and the horse has been beaten to death.

And the Forbes reporter is looking at the same public financial information that everyone has looked and this is all ready being discussed in another thread:

This Thread same info

Oh good we'll discuss the month old thread and the horse is dead so everyone just ignore the possibilities. I'll be happy to move it there if you say so.

As much as you would like to think this story is dead and gone...I really don't think so.

From where I'm sitting I'm hearing a constant buzz of potential activity - nothing quantifiable - but a buzz where there was none before.

Maybe where you are sitting you hear nothing but I would like to know if I'm the only one or if anyone else has a suspicion that something is coming done the road.

I'm not trying to be alarmist I would just like to hear if others (who are working) are hearing the various scenarios that I am hearing. It's always a variation on the same theme.

So move it, delete it but if anyone has any input I would be grateful.

Thanks

Ofcourse something is "coming down the road." It will be either bankrupcy (third time's a charm ya know), merger, liquidation, or business as usual. It's this not knowing that fuels rumor mills and message boards. I remember the first rumor 25 years ago when I started: Mr. Colodny was buying used DC8s to fly PIT-London. Then it was US Air and Western Airlines merging. Any insight without fact is rumor and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Hanging out on these message boards should be considered for entertainment purposes only. The best way to predict the future is read the financials about US, read Forbes (or any other news source), listen to DP, listen to the Union leaders, read the message boards, listen to co-workers and then decide for yourself.

One rumor thread closes so you start another one, huh?
Beeeeeyachhhhh Puhleeeeeezeeee!

There is a big difference now. The industry has contracted about 10% in the last year, which is probably 50% more capacity than LCC has in total. Everyone knows the toxic labor environment at LCC and very few people would want to risk getting involved in that mess. Finally, there has always been some financial wizard that is willing to pony up borrowed dollars to take a shot at wringing out money from this industry. There is no credit now.

So it is different. I think that the pilots have run out the clock on trying to fix their internal problems, now external events will dictate their future.

Look there's no one more doom and gloom than I ,so beleive me when I say we are doing fine for now.

Sorry, but I don't come here to start rumors.

I do come here to find out if some things are heard by others.

If your not hearing anything out there then you haven't been listening lately.
