By raping the employee!

Biff.
You won't be happy unless this place goes up in smoke will you? Your obvious hatred for this company and other employee groups (namely pilots) will only hurt you in the end. I can carry a good attitude with me to my next job. Can you say as much about a lousy attitude?

How is it fair that a pilot who makes six figures pays the same as someone making $30,000 for insurance? [BR][BR]I can see utility folks voting no, lost first and second shift at 11 stations, lost all three shifts at four stations and lost reciept and dispatch at 22 stations. Guess it makes good business sense to pay a mech $26 an hour vs $16 for utility for R&D work. [BR][BR]As you can see there is not one member of DL 141M's negotiating committee that is from the utility classification.[BR][BR]Looking at about 277 layoffs[BR][BR]Ponder those thoughts before you make judgements about me or my attitude, if you get beaten down you have to fight back and get the best you can get. And when I come to work I give 100% everyday, I am just tired of Chip the cheerleader and yourself always telling other groups what to do or how to vote or the company will liquidate, we are all adults and have minds and most of us are intelligent enough to make a rational decision without other union members especially pilots who have million dollar pensions to lose and you can't go out and find a job paying you six figures. And yes I do have some animosity towards ALPA and how they sold out the IAM in 1992 by making a deal with the company to cross the picket line and fly, and for the pilots who's aircraft type was grounded the company would still pay them, but the worst thing was pilots coming in on their own time without being paid to clean airplanes and run parts, those individuals are nothing more then scabs, those events happened you can't change that, but I will be damned if I will ever be prosituted by another labor group or the company.[BR]

How can you say to your brother, “Let me remove the speck from your eye“; and look, a plank is in your own eye!

A230 Driver, I don’t know you from Adam. What I do know and understand is the feelings manifested working for this company. An employee should have a medallion hanging from their chest given all the trials one is put through working for this company and this industry. Let people be, whether you feel they are right or wrong in their attitudes, it’s not your call nor mine. This company’s fate will be what the sum total of attitudes grown and nurtured over the years have produced. If that fact scares you, then maybe you and everyone else telling us how to act and think should move on to where you have more control. This is not about attitude, it not that simple.

Scotty Ford, president of the machinists District 131-M, representing the airline's mechanics, alluded to Mr. Bronner's threat in announcing the tentative deal last night. "We believe the agreement affords US Airways the best opportunity to avoid liquidation and preserve our members' jobs," Mr. Ford said in a statement.

Let's not forget that the POR is dependent on the PBGC buying off on the pensions...they just rejected US Airways' latest attempt at restructuring their pension payments so this must be addressed. Look for more concession demands very soon, especially from ALPA.

I am not advocating how anyone votes, it's not my place. I just think it's wrong to want to close the door on 30,000 employees and their families because your mad over how you've been treated. It hasn't been a cakewalk for anyone the last few years.

I agree, it sure has not been easy.

Venting is actually healthy and should not be perceived as wanting the entire roof to cave in. Better to vent on these boards than in pax faces. No one of sound mind wants the company to perish, I just feel giving the workers a little slack to release tension is harmless. Cage an animal long enough and it will go crazy.

Biffy:

Your qoute "How is it fair that a pilot who makes six figures pays the same as someone making $30,000 for insurance?" is ludicrous. It is class envy at its best. Guess what sparky, you pay the same amount for milk, bread, gas, electric and every other thing that Bill Gates pays. What does what a person makes have anything to do with what they pay. And who said ANYTHING about ANYTHING is fair. These guys are trying to save and airline. You don't like it when they come to you and take money. Niether do I. But what is the alternative? You are not a realist. You are a complainer. Judging from that quote I assume that a person who makes more than you should be paying more than you for the same product or service. That is not capitalism. That is socialism. And that is not America. Do you not understand capitalism and the way the employee/employer thing works? You're getting a good lesson now.

How does anyone know how much pilots are paying for insurance? I can't find out. I am taking a leave in 10 days and the company STILL cannot tell me how much insurance will cost me.
