😛h34r: During the next few weeks to follow the disasterous weather in the east and qik/shares, Usairways has led the public to believe it is irregular operations that they have been experiencing. Pray tell, what will they use the next coming weeks? Will they use "high volume"? Will they use "TSA"? I bet they will most probably blame it on their employee group! Lets hear everyone's spin on future events.
B) B) B) B)

They have a few months to get their act together since Spring weather is typically pretty benign (after snow storm season, before thunderstorm season). Let's hope they put their ducks in a row and prepare for the infamous Summer t-storms, including ways of pre-empting massive sleep overs in airports and even figuring out ways to at least make the customer feel less angry at the airline when weather really is the sole reason for an "irregular operation"

I cant wait to hear how they spin the inevitable qik delays to come when the transatlantic flts are in full force and overbooked as usual.....remember we have 20 flts this summer and no access to intl avail...should be very interesting....but remember also what rolls down hill..and who will get the blame 🙁

Yes, weather is an irregular op, but give us our tools back so we can quickly and efficiently help our pax!

Have the computers in PHL A terminal been set up for SHARES yet?

when will people quit bitching about shares cutover causing delays? yes, it was a mess ..I'm not denying that. but if we had stuck with sabre there likely would have been messes as well. Something like cutting over to a whole new res system is not a small undertaking, so it's very likely there would have been glitches if we cutover from shares to sabre. In addition, employees on the west would have to go through a learning curve. The difference: it wouldn't have affected employees on the east, so it's not really a big deal.

So you are saying its better to piss off 75% of the company to please 25%? Am I reading you correctly?

Another one without a clue. Been to the airport recently? Worked 8 hours (or more if you get mandatoried) recently on this system? Its almost to the point that its comical to listen to the defenders of this system. IT DOESNT WORK GOOD FOR US. Until they get "the kinks" worked out its going to be a mess. I've had emails from people in the IT dept and THEY KNOW it doesnt work right, but no one is able to say anything, lest they get the boot. IT DOESNT WORK RIGHT. Do you know how much money is walking out the door each day because people cant get the system to ticket/charge the change fees or do numerous other items to work that should be simple to do? I'm personally tired of doing things CORRECTLY 3 times and having the system give me an error message, be on hold for the (no) help desk for 45 mins to get it corrected and still not getting thru. Many agents try twice and when it doesnt work, they say screw it and let it ride regardless of the outcome. In the least, it the company seriously thinks its the East agents lack of knowledge on how to use the system, then why arent there online courses or more training courses lined up to get us "up to speed" on this wonderful system. Two days of training for most people is not going to be enough to do a thorough job. If all you want to do is checkin, then its a great system and 2 days of training is adequate. If you want people that actually know what they are doing and to be able to "work" the computer, you better start lining up those classes now!
Heres another suggestion then. Why not send more of the West agents out East to train again and get some of the cities up to speed on the system? First hand user knowledge would be very beneficial right now, plus we could use the extra coverage. They've already mandatoried 2 agents for tomorrow using the "unusual circumstances" clause in the contract.

Are you serious? AWA did not have near the booking that USAir had especially the intl. and it is evident that shares/qik .. doesnt cut it. it would have been much better and easier to switch to sabre the preffered system that is in sync with most airlines etc.... it was a BAD VERY COSTLY corp. move along with many others...

Please cite sources that state that Sabre is preferred by "most airlines etc" as opposed to Shares...... Thanks!

The east coast agents have years of experience and ran a very efficient operation in spite
of east coast weather and air traffic delays.

Shares is fine if you are booking a one or two segment trip from PHX to LAX.

If you have flight irregularities, an international reservation or change, a complicated reissue, a request for a Star Alliance award, you are looking at a 15 to 45 minute phone call. Why?? Because what I used to be able to see on one entry now takes
four or five, or twenty. First I have to check UA, then LH, then SK, then OS....retype retype...retype..then of course, the availabilities may not even be accurate because it is not
hooked up to anyone elses system.

If a flight cancels, and I have to find another
carrier...(it happens!!!) there is another
long search. In the old days...BAM! I found
a seat. You could call another airline, and at least know their schedule and availability.

It is evident that helping passengers reach their destination when we have a mechanical or misconnect, is of no interest to this management. The lines will not get any shorter until this system is upgraded or many many more agents are hired. It is slow and cumbersome and the worst thing I have worked on in many years.

You guys are gonna love this one. The sup got a call the other day from PIT that they were sending about 20 people to TPA to conx to WN to FLL. Problem is they didnt have tickets. The sup asked why they were sending people with no tickets. They replied they were going to go in and redo the tickets, but the system wouldnt let them. Sup said we dont have a ticketing agreement with WN in the first place, why did you send them. Well, it sold it in SHARES! Dont know if these are new people in PIT or just really forgetful or thought that since it sold in Shares it was ok, but we dont have a ticket agreement with WN yet SHARES allows us to "sell" seats on them. Keep the WN skd, but yank the availability NOW! Needless to say, the manager in PIT got out his little checkbook and wrote a nice big check to the WN guys in PIT.
Why WN flights come up in availability when I'm searching for a flight is beyond me. Another "glitch" in the system?
