Need some help.

Trying to determine the value of a Part 135 Cert, supposively in perfect condition, Multipilot/multi plane..

Can't talk about much, but research is leading to no information and I'm not finding much in terms of request of change of ownership dockets on the DOT website.

I have seen some certs valued at $50,000 in some DOT filings for Scheduled Service, but I think that is quite inflated for an air taxi/on demand cert.

thanks...

Well, add up the cost of assembling the manuals, personnel, background checks, security checks, aircraft conformity, training and I think you would eat up $50k pretty quick. If the cert is active and all you have to do is put yourself on it, the value is much higher than a dormant certificate that has no one left in key positions.

As you'll see if you decide to run your own operation, it's not lift that makes airplanes fly, it's money.

The value of the certification is not that much, you could do it yourself for less than that if you streamline the time you put into it. The value of a BUSINESS with multi pilot/planes , or any business for that matter, is about equal to the assets plus the forcast profit for one year of operation. i.e. aircraft/hardware/contracts. If the business does not make a profit, but just gets by, it should be closer to the value of the assets.
The seller may disagree with me and may want more but if they need to get rid of it, it'll be less!! Good luck!

We've got a very solid business opportunity and our team has lots of people with 135 experience (I helped a 135 On Demand go Scheduled)... but we've *never* been involved with someone willing to just *sell* one.. we've only done the "start from scratch" airlines (all of which are still in business, btw!)

Getting a 135 from scratch right now is pretty tuff. (depending on your region) The FAA in my region(southern, ATL)is seriously understaffed.
I have a 135 biz, it's a lot of work, but a lot more rewarding then my furlough from U.

Depending on the type of 135, anywhere from 5K to a whole bunch is the asking price. But you can't just buy the certificate, you have to buy the business. The 135 certificate is an asset of the business. Just buying the certificate is not really legal.

PM me if you need any info

Found out its attached to an FBO that has another active cert... put in a call to my attorney in DC and he's not cheap.. $410 an hour! This is going to get expensive, VERY quick!

The only thing I can tell you is that as of 1994, a 121 Cert was worth 600K. Not much help but it's a starting point.

I think we finally have a ballpark number in our heads. The biggest challenge will be clearing myself as a part owner of the airline (i'm only 27, although I've been in a mgt position for 5 of my 9 years in the airline biz). But so far, everything is looking up, got some funds in escrow, meeting with more people next week for the big money (to go 121, but that's later on).... its just sad seeing all these awesome props being parked that could be used on very profitable routes in the Southeast USA & some limited routes out west!
