Virgin Atlantic returns to profitability

  • Group pre-tax, pre-exceptional items, profit over 12 months of £14.4m, an improvement of £65.4m on the year ending December 2013 (£51.0m pre-tax loss)
  • Group revenue of £2.9bn
  • Airline unit revenue up 0.5% (up 3.5% at constant currency)
  • Average revenue passenger load factors of 77.38%
  • Airline unit operating costs flat year-on-year at constant currency

it shows that it took very small percentages to turn VS around financially but that hitting both the revenue and cost sides and getting DL to help push passengers onto VS aircraft instead of competing with the ME3 on lower yielding routes to Asia is a key part of VS' financial turnaround.

nice to see VS returning to its glory days.
 
Re-aligning the network to fit in with DL helps the revenue side.
As for costs, it looks like they were flat, but I think getting the 'right' aircraft in their fleet, B787, will further improve their numbers in the future.
