Waterboarding....torture?

People have an idea that waterboarding is something else entirely. It doesnt help that people like amnisty international put a videio together that is entirely incorrect. Link

No one has ever died from it and is performed on Navy seals as a part of their training. One of the three terrorists that it was performed on had it done over 100 times, so he seemed to enjoy it. LOL

Sorry...you are outnumbered by about 2,974.

And I as well. I would choose waterboarding any day before having to suffer what the victims of 9/11 went thru.
I am surprised that some people are willing to lower the moral standards of our American legal system, as well as our value system, to match those of terrorists.

I thought the one big thing we had on these terrorists was the moral advantage.

If we give that up, there is nothing left.

Seems to me that you folks are admitting that water boarding is torture but you are willing to use it and you are using 9/11 as a justification.

And Dapoes, I am pretty sure McCain and Stockdale have a pretty clear understanding of exactly what water boarding is.

Most of the laws in the US justice system are in place because we do not believe that the ends justify the means. We that the case, Miranda along with most other safe guards of our civil rights would not exist.

Personaly I'll defer to John McCain and Admiral Stockdale on this one. If memory service both have called it torture.

That is good enough for me.

I've the utmost, highest possible respect for the sacrifices those gentlemen made for our country...but...for at least 30+ years, pilots and flight crew have routinely received worse treatment in just the process of being trained for the eventual contingency of possibly becoming POWs. So?...Should I now cry "Torture!"..and sue the government for that part of my military education?

PS: You surprise me Piney. WHile I'm equally opposed to the encroaching federal powers intruding on American citizens' Freedoms, and we can certainly agree on most all fo nthe Libertarian notions about that...It was you, in another post, that evidenced not the slightest problem with the immediate slaughter of nazi camp guards by our people. (in the rare instances when the little swine wee actually caught "on campus"). Personally..I've no problem with leaning on people likely to have plans for the slaughter of our people, and tactical interrogations have often saved American lives in the field.

I should also note that my other post mentioning "worse treatment" just in training, was solely in reference to waterboarding, and was in NO way, shape or form ANY intended comparison to what Admiral Stockdale and Senator McCain suffered at the hands of those fun loving North Viets.

Whats even more idiotic than the obviousness of waterboarding being torture, is that they kept waterboarding one guy over 200 times, and the guy,

1. Still would'nt give it up,
or
2. honestly didn't know anything.

Geez, talk about Overkill !

Your civil rights? Gimme a break. It wasn't any us citizen we are talking about, it happened with three terrorists, which also revealed another attack on Los Angeles.

You don't extend the the same rights we enjoy to known terrorist who's only purpose is to kill US citizens.

If you feel so strongly about it, go on over to the taliban and warm up to them with your civil rights garbage. I doubt they will extend you the same courtesy.

The ends do justify the means. Remember how we dealt with Japan in ending the war? Was that not extreme use of force? Did the the rest of the world stand up and take notice? Yes they did.

Somehow splashing three terrorists with water and a bug, pales in comparison. In fact you could say it was a bit "soft"!
