What's new

what an idiot

Toyota's workers don't necessarily earn less than their GM counterparts, but there's no comparison when you look at the legacy of contracts past.

What's produced such a cost disadvantage for GM vs. other manufacturers are clauses like medical being funded at 100% for actives and retirees, and the "30 & out" clause which results in 48 year old retirees (whose full load for medical benefits has to be floated for 14 years until they're eligible for Medicare). At one point, there were more retirees than actives in GM's health plan.

Toyota's been building cars in the US for about 30 years, so they've had retirees as well. They just didn't get as rich of a deal that the Legacy Three provided for so long.

Actually, Toyotas first US plant in Georgetown, Ky., opened in 1989 (19 years ago). The first Japanese "transplant" was opened by Honda in the early 80's.

Wrongo! Airplanes will not run natural gas, corn syrup or anything else out there. Aiplanes run on OIL. Black gold, Texas tea, Saudi soda, Kuwait kool-aid. Or any "alternatives" out there. Your energy theories are pure science fiction, born out of cynicism than logic.

Synthetic fuel made from coal, natural gas, or other hydrocarbon feedstock shows significant promise as a fuel that could be easily integrated into present and future aircraft with little or no modification to current aircraft designs.

Hmmm

Does'nt sound like "clean renewable" energy to me. Changing fuel for commercial aircraft requires costly type certificate modifications.
