Back before the ill-fated United merger, the company was in talks with Boeing about acquiring several hundred B717-200 and be the launch customer for the B717-100. Well, the United deal is gone, sort-of, maybe, I think. Management is crying they desperate need 400 regional jets including 70 and 90 seaters. So what is wrong with the B717? It''s cheaper to buy and certainly has better customer acceptance. The RJs are ok but 90 seats in one. Carry on baggage is a problem with 30-50 seats, can you imagine with twice as many?

I would think that the last thing that U should do now is go out and get a new type of a/c. All this means is more training, new manuals, new schedules, and additional expenses that U doesn't have or want at this juncture. Just my 2 cents...
