Where did American Airlines go Wrong? – Why the Flight Attendants of this Once Iconic Airline have h

maintenance feels the same way. only difference is we are still under a bankruptcy contract and the company or the union couldn't care less.

Pretty sad the FA's negotiate an agreement vote it in and still not happy - nothing is perfect - people need to compromise it's hard to always get everything one wants

Maybe it's time for some to move on if it's that bad - that's why getting trapped in a seniority based job constrains some people from other jobs

The flight attendants will never be satisfied.  There are only two things in this world they truly hate--1.  Then way things are.  2.  Change.

to me if your unhappy let it be known and your statement to move on is wrong in my opinion the fa like us Amts have lost so much and it's time we get every thing we lost back. The three unions all wanted us air management us amts did not get to vote on that Jim little took it on his self even though it was our lively hood I do not know if pilots and fas got to vote on that are not. Just like taking our flex vacation away after taking 2 weeks in two different contracts and then taking our flex Vacation with nothing to replace it . All three aa unions got rid of profit sharing but us air employees get profit sharing this year. as far as compromise it only works when the company wants give back are work rules it's a one way street .

It is not a one way street when work rules changed and did everyone's pay checks each payroll go up

It's not one way and to say that indicates there is no room for compromise

Too many old bag flight attendants past their expiration date is the problem. You could pay them $100 an hr they would still have surly attitudes towards customers. Time to clean house and bring in some fresh young faces.

They're begging for people on FB to go to that site and make comments. Problem is that the group is populated by the perpetually pi$$ed off and clueless new hires who think they also should get paid $100 an hour while flying nothing but 777 international with weekends off. The sheer volume of complaining about being on reserve for a whole 18 months and how inhuman it is makes me cringe everyday I go to work. They just don't get it. I'm sure if this group had their way, we'd have no JCBA just like United. No thanks. I'm very happy that we got improved wages, although, these crazy a$$ USAir work rules need some SERIOUS changes in the next contract. If United ever gets off its behind and gets a new contract modeled after the new Delta rates, the F/A's will be well off. With their improved contract and the new and improved Delta contract, we are sure to get an increase with the language in our contract. Just with the pace United is going, it may not be till 2020! P.S. United already agreed to pay them our rates and that was before the new Delta rates. I say, go get all you can. Again, I'm very happy to not be waiting out his train making $6+ less an hour in the mean time! Too many Polly Anna's at work hoping for the bag of magic beans and holding out for the fairy dust. Getting rid of LG did not and will not change the course of the union any faster than waiting till next years elections would have! They were all worried that she would retire while president which would make her eligible to keep her current A5 passes. They were all jealous of the passes. Why? I have no idea.

Hello everyone, I haven't been on the forum much since I retired last year.

I traveled to Europe a lot this Spring-Summer mainly on LUS metal.  Do the LUS and LAA flight attendants have fences or can they bid whichever flights their seniority allows?  The reason I ask is because it would seem Trans-Atlantic flights would be most desirable, but many times it appeared that often times the flight attendants were younger than what I would expect on long-haul flights and I believe every one of them came from the LUS side of the family.

You all keep the birds flying, I REALLY miss getting up to go to work everyday....sometimes!  Hope you all end up with stellar contracts.

amts did not get the 4 percent Christmas raise last year compromise works one way at least as amts go company dose not follow contract unions says they can Do that brother I blame the twu for not protecting there due paying members. We compromised the last few contracts the 2003 stay out of bk we lost pay benefits sick time first day per . Is half pay we lost a week of vacation etc etc then in bk contract another week Vc more work rues contract to send planes to contract over haul places . But guess what management did between 2003 and bk they took big bonuses .no shared sacrifice so amts are tired of giving up every thing so upper management gets big bonuses so I see no compromise to the amts

Black Magic, most of the newhires are pretty good but there are many with an attitude.  I've been flying with one all month who is consistently surly with the pax and complains incessantly about having to be on reserve every other month.  Many are lazy, entitled, and act like they didn't know the pay would be low in the beginning.

Many of us "old bags" work circles around the younger people.  Most of us are here because we like it.

Overhauler, FOI (Full Operational Integration) is supposed to occur early in 2017.  As of now, the US name may be gone, but we're still flying as separate operations with no cross utilization on each others' bases and equipment.  They've published a combined seniority list but it's really meaningless until all the barriers are down.
