Technology fails. So all this technology that makes the Mexico wall more secure than the Great Wall of China is pretty worthless. Hackers found a way to get thru "firewalls"...they'll find a way to get thru other walls as well.

People found a way to escape prisons and jails as well. Should we not have them or would you say for the most part they are effective? I wonder if walls and fences play a part in that?

I grew up in Florida. Do you have any idea how many thousands of Cubans were able to evade state of the art Coast Guard cutters across a narrow 90 mile long stretch of open ocean? Have you ever seen the number of pleasure boats along the coast (think Gulf of Mexico or Gulf of California)? Are Mexican's not capable of taking a boat?

Ok The wall will be a DETERRENT. It won't work one hundred percent of the time. Few things do. But it will HELP protect the border. As far as cost goes if it's fifty percent effective it will be a bargain.

I doubt it will be 50% effective. The fastest growing group of illegals are Asian. I don't think they are flying into Mexico City and trying to sneak across the border. I think they are walking down a jetway in Los Angeles. So when we talk about the wall stopping "illegals", let us remember that not all illegals speak Spanish. It might reduce the number of Spanish speaking illegals, but it's not going to stop illegals.

Edited to add...the illegals from Mexico were stealing all the good landscaping and dishwashing jobs from Americans. The Asian illegals are stealing IT, Accounting and Engineering jobs from Americans.

Gosh..I think that's what I said. You can build a wall, but the number of non hispanic (Asian and Eastern European) illegals is growing faster than the hispanic illegals. I don't believe I screamed anything...but if the fact is that the number of illegal hispanics is declining, and the number of Asian and Eastern Europen illegals is growing - then how will a wall prevent the faster growing number of illegals from getting into this country?

The sad fact is - Trump and his followers have reduced the discussion to: Mexico=illegals. And I'm not screaming racism, but one of my friends at work is a cute gal from Peru. She's a legal American citizen who had to take a test that you and I most likely would fail to become a citizen. Yet she personally has been told by some MAGA types that she should "go back to Mexico". Why would a cute girl from Peru want to go to Mexico?
