What's new

Whoops

In the movie Airport, what was the City was that in Chicago? If so, could a 707 make it all the way to Rome nonstop?

In the plot, it was Chicago. I think they called it Lincoln International, but my memory may be off.

The exterior airport shots were filmed at MSP.

The pilot will probably lose his job over this one. IMHO, the pilot should have know which way to turn the wheels before he even entered the cockpit, much less before he started the engines. Read one of the comments from a passenger on the flight. This pilot has some 'splaining' to do.

"I was on this flight that got stuck in the mud. Myself and many others who had window seats in the right side of the plane saw we were getting into trouble before the pilot got the plane stuck. First of all, it was foggy but all taxi lights and signs were clearly visible. Second, the service roads and taxi lanes were all plowed from snow with the taxi lanes noticeably wider than the service road. There weren't lights on the service road like there are on the taxi lanes.
Also, this happened right after the plane was pushed back from the terminal. The pilot made an immediate sharp right turn and in no time we were stuck. The plane started bouncing a bit as soon as the tires hit piles of snow. Yep, this pilot definitely messed up!

Probably a FO that had just upgraded to Capt. He should have paid more attention when he was a FO. Colored light do a wonderful job of letting you know where you are, This guy will be known as a MUDSTUD for his whole career.

Great

Now we have passengers telling the pilots what’s wrong and pilots actually listening to them.

Unlikely. 757's only have one tiller wheel.

The Pilots are the only group at UA that I know of that don't lose their job over an incident like that.
I might be wrong.

I maintenance you would get promoted.

If the pilot is not fired, he certainly will be sent to more training until he learns to discern his "right" from his "left". This could also be a major life changing experience for him.
