Will Joe Pa resign?

No I take no pleasure in this story. I am just shocked at so many defending his pedophile enabling behavior.

BTW, they are now saying Sandusky's wife new about this too. My god the cult of "Protect Joe" at all cost is really strong in PA. I thought only Texans were that crazy about football.

Just keeps on getting weirder. Sandusky's autobiography is called "Touched"

This is one sick dude.

They guys was caught three times accused many other times. He still had keys and access to the facilities? They still let him bring boys for his overnight camp? The even let him ride with the team to bowl games with boys? He also was fired from his own charity for abusing boys. Joe absolutely knew of the stories and still associated with him and enabled his behavior, he will now most likely rot in hell! Joe ran everything at Penn State with an Iron fist it is beyond reason to think he didn't know.

Are we in the United States still?

Innocent until PROVEN Guilty? Does that concept ring a bell? Jeez my crystal ball must be on the fritz because I can't seem to contact the spirit world and find out what was in Joe Pa's head at the time. He testified before a Grand Jury which did NOT indict him and Grandy Jury proceedings are secret. For all you know he was in there singing like a canary.

There only one thing worse than a Child Molester and that is being accused of being one when in fact you aren't. This will all come out in the wash. Frankly, If I were Joe I'd tell the world to kiss my arse in Macy's window and sail off on the ship of grace never to speak to the media again. Which is likely why I'm not the winningest coach in football history

SparrowHawk, your a manager a worker of yours comes in and tells you he saw another co-worker buffing a 10 year old by at work and you tell your boss and the worker retires (way to early and at the peak of his career), but is till around everyday with access keys and other boys and for 9 years you question nothing?

It is child abuse to enable a known child abuser to keep doing this. BTW he is a classic predator. Smart, charismatic and ruthless. He lives 100 feet from an elementary school. There will be more victims coming forward.
I just don't understand standing up for these guys, that never called the cops, never voiced concerns and instead allowed him access to the school and continue going about his business as all was fine???

Read that grand jury report all the way through then defend any of them. I almost puked as I read it.

Grand Jury Report

BTW, it is almost certain that when he leaves, which will be soon, the university will have made him sign a gag order and he will never be able to tell his side of the story. While he is not legally liable for much they most certainly are.

Frankly, I'm going to report him or her to though the appropriate channels as dictated by my employer. To do more would um "Expose" me and my employer to litigation if the charges were later to be determined as unfounded.

OTOH, if I was a direct witness to such an event, I would be morally and likely legally obligated to not turn a blind eye and fully disclose to my employer exactly what I saw. The burden however is ultimately on my employer to follow through with the Authorities as the Cleary Case I proved a link to points out.

To date it appears that Joe Paterno violated no laws and the state AG said as much. To me at least it looks like the administration is up to its assets in Alligators with no one to drain the swamp.

Flip it around and suppose you witnesses Scott Kirby abusing a child, would you run to Doug Parker, get fired all with no guarantee that Kirby would be brought to justice? Would you go to the police, knowing you'd be ftred and likely black balled as a trouble maker/whistleblower and likely never work in the airline business ever again? Go one step beyond and suppose what you thought you saw wasn't at all what was going on and the parents sue your assets off, you get fired, sued AND blackballed?

There are no easy answers if it's your rump on the burner. Judge not, lest ye be judged.

...one of those kids was your son, nephew, cousin, etc...

Honestly I'd want to make certain we had the right guy. In which case I'd be so far up the Prosecutors assets he'd think he had 2 tongues.

I have a very close friend who was the victim of childhood sexual abuse from her father no less, He did himself in, in front of the family on Christmas Day when she was 8. She has never been right since. Never been able to stay married more than a year. Threw her career away over her own sexual misconduct, So I see and hear first hand the aftermath of what we're discussing.

This is why to me at least that we make double/triple sure we have the right people charged, tried, convicted and given the maximum sentence. There is significant evidence that pedophiles can't be "Cured" so they need to be caught and locked up for as long as the law allows.

Truthfully, those who engaged in a cover-up need to be punished. Truth is however is those 8 kids will likely NEVER be right and sadly no amount of jail time or damage award will change that outcome. Frankly I feel nothing but sorrow for all involved except the perpetrator and if it turns out that Jerry Sandusky is indeed a pedophile then to bad, so sad for him, May he perishing prison.

I can understand Joe Paterno not wanting to believe his friend is a pedophile and trying to convince himself that it isn't true. I totally get that. Yet in the end he did report him and IMO the Administration should have stepped up to the plate, fired Sandusky in a very public way and involved the law immediately, settle with the victims and moved forward.

Upon further reflection IF I was Joe Pa I'd resign tomorrow. I'd just tell the press "It's best for my players, the University and myself that I leave" and I'd walk off the podium with my head high and be gone.

I'd go straight to the police no questions asked. And make no mistake Joe Pa is the Boss at Pen State. The police get tips all the time hell he could even had made an anonymous one and there is no liability in saying to the cops check this out I heard something and I don't know if it is true or not. The only liability is slander and telling the authorities what you have heard is not slandering or even accusing someone.

And when they didn't, he should have been at the police headquarters, on ESPN, Fox News, CNN, whatever it took. How many were abused after that time when he thought someone else would take care of it?

Friend or not, when I found out about that, I would have personally dragged him in into the nearest county jail and made sure everyone knew what he did.

And in doing that you would have violated his civil rights and compromised yours.
