Northwest and Delta Airlines join pension programs

"MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Northwest Airlines Corp and Delta Airlines, two airlines that are currently under bankruptcy protection, have announced that they are combining their pension obligations with one another fueling speculation that they will merge. The plan is a comprehensive Defined Contribution Pension Plan, although it is different that the Defined Contribution Plan that US Airways Group and UAL.Corp are involved in with the Pension Benifit Garuantee Corporation.
