Just a quick question regarding winter operations on a PA-28.
We bought a 62 Cherokee in 2000, and at the time we installed an oil cooler baffle during the colder winter months. Our mechanic suggested we change the old oil screen system to a filter which included a verna-therm (sp?) so we don't use the oil cooler baffle anymore and the oil temp runs fine even at -25C (after a real long pre-heat).
Another local owner suggested we should really use a cylinder baffle as well in the winter to keep the cold air blast off the front 2 jugs. Our POH says nothing at all about baffles for winter ops... just wondering if anyone knows if these are required.
Thanks.....
